[Phrolova cosplay] Red and white dress and violin in the night of Wuthering Waves

This time shooting the Phrolova cosplay from Wuthering Waves, I deliberately chose the night street. The dim yellow light of the streetlights and the slightly damp ground just happened to set off the cool-toned mood of the frame. The character setting of Phrolova inherently carries a sense of mystery and melancholy, so in terms of makeup and styling, I put a lot of thought into getting close to her temperament. The light green wig needed to be styled with a natural fluffiness, the bangs were deliberately left long to cover the right eye, paired with dark red circle lenses and a cold-looking makeup, which basically set the overall tone. To highlight the facial contours, the eyeshadow used a cool grayish-purple tone, slightly deepened at the outer corners of the eyes, matched with a bean-paste colored lipstick, making it look more aloof.

The costume is a red and white alternating design, with white spaghetti straps and puff sleeves, paired with a red and black multi-layered skirt, making the color contrast very strong. The red silk scarf at the neckline and the red rope knot on the chest are the visual focus. To make them look naturally drooping with a casual feel, I made many fixings in the back to ensure they wouldn't fall apart when walking during shooting. The black diamond-shaped tattoo on the arm was drawn directly using special stickers, and the details cannot be sloppy. The small brown leather pouch at the waist and black shorts paired with black stockings increased the layering of the overall styling. This time, violin and bow props were also prepared, and when holding them in hand, it really felt like the character gained a soul. I practiced the grip of the bow for a long time; it shouldn't be too forceful, making the movement look elegant and natural.

During the shooting process, the hardest part was actually grasping the light and shadow. There was a very strong warm yellow streetlight on the left side, which formed a sharp contrast with the cool-toned night scene on the right. To ensure the colors of the face and costume wouldn't be suppressed and darkened, I had the photographer adjust the camera position, trying to let the light hit from the side, which could outline the contours while preserving the original atmosphere of the environment. The posture of holding the violin was also adjusted for a long time—it shouldn't look stiff, and it had to match a slightly lowered gaze, showing a sense of being immersed in one's own world. The standing position also needed fine-tuning; standing entirely in the warm light would destroy the atmosphere of the night, while standing entirely in the dark would cause the red and white of the costume to lose contrast.

This cosplay has many details. Red ribbons are wrapped around the wrists and chest, which not only avoids being messed up by the wind during shooting, but also maintains the aesthetics of restraint. The violin body and bow also required precise angles to keep the frame from looking inconsistent. Being able to successfully finish the shoot this time is thanks to the photographer's patience and the logistics helping to tidy up the costume. Actually, every time I cosplay characters with such musical instrument props, it's more tiring than usual, but the moment I saw the finished photos, everything was worth it. The overall atmosphere is very strong, the cool-toned night scene paired with the red and white costume, plus the violin in hand, has a truly visual impact.
