[Runami Yachiyo cosplay] Cosmic Princess Kaguya! A Japanese style cosplay girl under the lanterns

This set of Runami Yachiyo cosplay took nearly six hours from fitting to the end of Japanese-style studio photography. The most time-consuming part was actually fixing the wig and horn hair ornaments. To support the silver-white long twin tails, a lot of wig nets and hairspray were used, plus the huge ring-shaped horns on both sides of the head, making the center of gravity prone to shifting if one wasn't careful during the shoot. For the makeup, bright blue colored contacts were chosen, with red blending intensified at the outer corners of the eyes; this slightly tipsy-feeling makeup paired with highlighter made the gaze appear deeper on camera.
The costume design is very layered, featuring a modified Japanese style cosplay dress spliced in navy blue and red, with purple crisscross straps on the chest and a belt with gold and white zigzag textures tied around the waist. There was a dynamic single-leg kick action during the shoot; to ensure the arc of the skirt hem fluttering was natural, angles had to be repeatedly searched for. The outer dark blue fabric is printed with cyan-blue geometric patterns, while the inner layer reveals a vibrant bright cyan, which, contrasted against the pinkish-red paper umbrella, makes the color contrast extremely eye-catching. In terms of props, apart from the gradient Japanese paper umbrella, that pink square plush toy also added a sense of liveliness to the frame.
When shooting in the lantern corridor, the surrounding white lanterns were covered with black calligraphy characters, paired with warm yellow ambient light, creating an atmosphere similar to a summer festival. To make good use of the foreground, I tried using blurred lanterns as the foreground of the frame to increase the depth of the space. In the Japanese-style room tatami scene, natural light filtering through the wooden window lattices was used to make the picture quieter and softer. Because I wore light gray-blue polka dot stockings paired with off-white platform lace-up high heels, when sitting on the wooden corridor, I tried a posture leaning forward with my arms reaching toward the camera; this composition could nicely showcase the leg lines and the off-shoulder design of the clothing. Walking on tatami shoes with platform soles requires core strength; when performing the single-leg kick action, I had to maintain balance while minding the fixed point of the gaze, repeating it many times before achieving the desired effect.
Throughout the shooting process, I kept communicating with the photographer about light, shadow, and composition. For example, how to use light and dark contrast in the corridor, and how to use side-backlighting indoors to reflect the texture of the polka dot stockings and the clothing. As a cosplayer, one shouldn't just restore the costumes and props, but rather hope to convey that state where coldness and tenderness coexist through body language. Throughout the process, I didn't deliberately force poses, but rather immersed myself in the understanding of the character to adjust my actions. Although I was truly exhausted after the shoot, seeing the finished photos made me feel that all this refinement of details was entirely worth it.
