Putting on this Hu Tao swimsuit cosplay look, I headed straight to the poolside at night. The shimmering ripples by the poolside at night had more texture than expected. Strong light hit the water surface to form a large area of highlight reflection, making the transparency of the entire frame very high. Although it is a night scene, the cool-toned pool water perfectly neutralized the warm light source, looking exceptionally refreshing visually. This set of photos was taken at a night pool with less foot traffic. The water surface was calm, and the reflection effect was excellent, which was very beneficial for shaping that clear and transparent environment for Anime-style photography. In terms of costume, a sports-style T-shirt with a white background and blue edges and blue sports shorts were chosen, along with white over-the-knee socks. This not only preserved the campus sports style but also matched Hu Tao's original lively and energetic personality. The gray animal ears and long black twintails are the core of the makeup and styling. Under the strong light at night, these hair textures were clearly displayed, forming a good contrast between motion and stillness with the flow of the pool water. During the shooting process, to present Hu Tao's sweet and nimble qualities, I tried several different movements. From leaning my chin on my hands in thought by the pool, to the playfulness of closing my eyes and raising my hand in a salute, and then personally going into the water to let the T-shirt get soaked to slightly reveal the silhouette, every pose required precise guidance and snapshots. Especially that close-up shot of raising my hand; under the illumination of a single flashlight, the clothing folds and slightly brushed water stains all formed a very harmonious texture. The lighting technician played a major role in this shoot. Night portrait photography heavily tests lighting techniques, as it requires illuminating the subject without destroying the shimmering background of the pool water surface. We adopted a one-sided fill-light method to illuminate the face and legs while keeping the water surface in that dappled, shimmering state. The moment I went into the water, my body felt a bit cool, but it also perfectly matched the summer pool atmosphere. The ripples on the water surface, the hem of the clothes soaked by water, and the slight moisture clinging to the skin—these details were all recorded by the lens one by one, hoping the final images can present a vivid image of Hu Tao.
