Today I did a Furina cosplay from Genshin Impact. Right from the preparation stage, a lot of thought went into this blue-and-white gradient wig. To keep the top white fluffy and the blue transition at the ends natural, trimming and styling were adjusted many times. The length of the bangs also had to be precisely controlled—flattering the face shape without blocking vision. To recreate the character's signature blue eyes, I specially selected a pair of high-vividness contact lenses, matching them with eye makeup and false eyelashes to forge a cool, aloof gaze. The costume details are extremely tedious: the bow at the neckline, the sapphire brooch on the chest, and the silver metal accessories at the cuffs all take a long time to put on and take off. Especially that hat—its origami decorations and metal pieces carry some weight, requiring layered bobby pins to keep it steady, meaning any sudden head turns during the shoot required extra care. The lighting relied mainly on a flash on the left; such strong light sources easily flatten facial dimension. Fortunately, the photographer firefLY knows how to find angles, guiding me to slightly lower my head and perfectly freezing this moment of intense light-and-shadow contrast. Doing an Anime cosplay isn't just external dress-up; it's also a deep exploration of the character's disposition. Furina is a multi-faceted character, and this time I tried to showcase her quiet, introverted side. Due to the heavy costume, body movements were restricted, and many poses couldn't be fully stretched out, while a few details weren't restored to absolute perfection. Since it's my first time cosplaying this character, my state might still have flaws, so I apologize in advance for any OOC. The convention environment was actually quite noisy, with background announcements and other people chatting, making it a test to concentrate and get into character amidst all that. The wig's colors presented a wonderful gradient effect under the lighting, blending seamlessly with the costume's cool tones. Actually, today's on-site shooting schedule was quite tight. Because of the numerous apparel accessories, getting dressed, undressed, and sorting out the wig took up a huge chunk of time. To maintain makeup integrity, setting powder was reapplied a few times mid-way, and the wig's styling spray got plenty of touch-ups too. During shooting, the high-frequency use of the flash made my eyes slightly uncomfortable, but seeing the texture and composition on the camera screen made all the hard work worth it. Today, I managed to capture the desired light-and-shadow texture, and the rest will be left to post-processing. Thank you to the photographer for their patience and dedication. Packing up and heading home, the next step is sorting through the raw negatives and picking out the most satisfying frames to edit.
