I've finally sorted through my photos from the Changsha ACC Comic Con on March 15th! This Furina look was crafted with immense attention to detail—from the blue-and-white color blocking of the tailcoat to the golden embroidered patterns, every seam and hem was cut to match the in-game design as faithfully as possible. The outfit is made from a structured, firm satin fabric, allowing it to hold its sharp silhouette without collapsing when walking or striking poses. The dark blue ruffled cravat at the collar is a major highlight; to give it crisp, three-dimensional pleats, I shaped it beforehand with an iron and reinforced the inner layer with stiffening net.
I cut and styled the wig entirely by myself. That iconic ahoge on top was secured with hairspray and a thin wire core, ensuring it kept its distinct shape even in the crowded, windy convention halls. The curved locks along the temples were styled in layers using a curling iron, and because the original design is so voluminous, I treated the interior with wig-smoothing spray to prevent frizz. The two ankle-length twin-tails in the back were an enormous undertaking; to ensure all-day wearing comfort, I widened the inner support harness and neatly gathered the ends of the wig to keep them from being stepped on while walking. For makeup, the bright blue contact lenses were the soul of the look, paired with eye makeup layering cool and warm tones, ending with a flick of deep blue eyeshadow at the outer corners for added theatrical drama. The base makeup was kept matte with subtle highlighter touching the tip of the nose, achieving an exquisite, doll-like finish.
This shoot focused heavily on emotional nuance and pose execution. In the first close-up portrait, I reached out my left hand toward the lens, using the blurred foreground palm to build depth of field and storytelling tension while meeting the camera with an intense direct gaze. To harmonize with the bubble effects, I practiced controlled micro-expressions on-site, sustaining a cool, slightly detached and scrutinizing demeanor. The second full-body shot features the scepter in hand, showcasing the full ensemble of the blue-and-white tailcoat and tailored shorts. To flatter my leg lines, I wore a black leather thigh garter; letting it peek through as the coat tails swayed added wonderful visual layering. The third shot captures me resting on a bench, interacting with a Salon Solitaire Hydro minion prop. I crafted this little mascot by hand using ultra-light clay and a clear acrylic orb, securing its tiny top hat with hot melt glue—it drew so many fellow fans over to snap photos at the event!
Under the convention hall lighting, royal blue satin can easily produce unwanted glare, so we deliberately sought out direct lighting or softly shaded areas. The absolute best part of cosplaying this character was meeting so many passionate fans who love her just as much, sharing shoot experiences and prop-making tips around the booths in such an incredible atmosphere. These photos captured so many spontaneous, magical moments, and the bubble machine on-site truly dialed the ambiance up to eleven.
