[Furina Cosplay] Genshin Impact Hydro Archon's Daily Interpretation and Platform Moderation

I've been doing cosplay for quite a few years now, moving from buying ready-made costumes at the beginning to researching wig styling and makeup on my own. Every time I shoot photos, I hope to restore the soul of that ACG character in my heart as much as possible. This time, I'm sharing my attempt at Furina from Genshin Impact. As the Hydro Archon of Fontaine, Furina possesses distinct traits—a slightly dramatic, gorgeous atmosphere tinged with a touch of loneliness and stubbornness, which pairs perfectly with this extravagantly theatrical costume. The elevated blue accent streak on top and the main pure white tone of the wig display fantastic layering under the lights, while the sapphire teardrop decoration on the neck serves as the finishing touch of the whole outfit, naturally bringing a divine touch of the Hydro element.

I also put a lot of thought into the fabric selection and styling of the outfit. The blue dress fabric has a subtle sheen, and the ruffle splicing on the chest adds depth. When tying the dark blue bow at the neck, I specifically adjusted the position of the gemstone pendant to make it more visually prominent. For the eye makeup, I chose aqua blue contact lenses that complement the hair color, making my eyes look clearer and deeper. Instead of heavy dark colors, I used fine shimmer to highlight the eyelids; this lightweight Furina makeup actually highlights the ethereal quality of anime characters better. In fact, many beginner cosplayers have a misconception that heavier makeup equals higher fidelity, but choosing a translucent, natural base along with detailed local touches according to the shooting scene and lighting often yields more authentically restored photos.

However, putting effort into cosplay is one thing, while sharing it on social platforms afterwards is quite another. Recently, my Douyin account management went through frustrating setbacks. What disappointed me most was that my posted content was repeatedly throttled by the platform, and I even received direct violation warnings. The platform judged me as "suspected of being a minor," which not only blocked my work from being displayed normally to fellow fans, but also resulted in a half-month account ban. To be honest, I am an adult and had long uploaded my ID for real-name verification as required, but the system's moderation mechanism was entirely unyielding. Even though I repeatedly submitted appeal materials and provided my ID card to prove it, the misjudgment could not be resolved.

I carefully checked the violation details sent by the platform. Suggestions like "avoid youthful/infantile portrayals" or "avoid low-angle shots" were genuinely laughable. Both sample photos I chose used clean, elegant low or high angles, neither intentionally showing off legs, highlighting body curves, nor wearing any sheer stockings. Simply because the character's design naturally carries a youthful and ornate vibe, combined with possibly triggering algorithm keywords in the title, it was ruthlessly locked down.

The platform's original intention to protect minors is certainly good, but this blanket approach relying entirely on machine feature extraction indeed hurts many adult cosplayers focused on characters. Through this half-month ban and repeated appeals, I deeply experienced the harsh environment and realized that getting stuck in this dead end would only drain my own love for cosplay. So I began adjusting my strategy—for instance, avoiding words related to a "youthful vibe" in descriptions and shifting focus to more professional topics like "fabric texture" and "light/shadow performance," attempting to preserve the character's wonderful traits while navigating platform rules.

Ultimately, doing cosplay stems from passion. Costume styling, wig styling, makeup design, and even lighting and focus during cosplay photography are all parts of the creative process. Although real-world factors like traffic and throttling can dampen one's enthusiasm, I firmly believe that things we truly love shouldn't be held hostage by metrics. I will continue to shoot and share characters I love, treating every photo set as a reinterpretation of anime-style fashion and aesthetics. Rather than pandering to platform algorithms, I'd much rather spend effort researching the character's core, composing carefully, and delivering the cleanest, most authentic works. Cosplay photography ultimately presents not just the clothes worn or makeup applied, but the exact moment we capture the character's soul through passion and understanding.
