[Jingliu cosplay] A solitary blade sweeping through, the cold moon shadow of Xianzhou Luofu

Speaking of Jingliu, from the aloof and ethereal Sword Master image in Honkai: Star Rail to this outfit titled "Jingliu Flower Rhythm Immortal Dance," mastering her requires great effort from pattern drafting to wig styling and pose design. This time I chose a Bamboo forest location shoot to complement the piece; although it looks cold and stern, the actual shoot was quite interesting.

Let's talk about the outfit first. The blue-and-white color scheme is the main body, and the dark armor on the shoulders, chest, and waist seen by everyone is custom-made from firm material. Beyond structural accuracy, the red tassel at the waist is a key element that breaks the monotony of cold tones. The costume has many layers; especially the light gauze skirt hem, when posing dynamically alongside the bamboo forest breeze, offers fantastic texture without feeling bulky.

Handling the hair was quite challenging; this long silver-white wig needed to convey a flowing feeling, and the white bow hairpiece on top had to remain crisp and firm without collapsing. It was indeed quite windy in the bamboo forest that day, but in a way, it helped, making the blowing hair look remarkably natural. For makeup, red blushes around the eyes heightened the character's icy demeanor; to ensure the camera held light well, the base makeup was done clean and delicate, pairing with the blue-violet ambient light to evoke that authentic "Sword Master" aura from the game.

Camera angles were crucial. Since I chose a posture with one leg raised and a long sword thrusting forward, it demanded strong balance. To capture the sharp movement of striking with the sword, the photographer used a relatively low-angle low shot paired with rim lighting from the side-back to enhance costume layering and character presence. The scattering bamboo leaves weren't added in post-production, but captured live by the crew, adding natural real-scene authenticity. We did plenty of homework beforehand on lighting adjustments and prop coordination for this photography set.

From a character perspective, Jingliu isn't just a sword-wielding warrior; she carries a sense of tragic brokenness refined by vicissitudes yet settled into calmness. So during the shoot, I didn't deliberately try to act cool, but rather immersed myself in this quiet, focused, suppressed emotion. Though hard to fully convey via static images, combining it with lines like "A solitary blade sweeping all before it... such empty fame is merely past history" helped grasp the character's essence much better.

To me, every outdoor cosplay is a brand new experience, especially works requiring complex lighting and specific atmospheric settings. Outfit weight and weapon length increase physical exertion, but seeing light and shadow hit the hair and clothes in the final shots to embody the character's aloof solitary aura makes every drop of sweat and adjustment worthwhile. This work might bring a fresh visual feeling to players who love Ancient Wuxia or Xianzhou themes; from character portrayal to makeup and environmental atmosphere, I did my best to fit the role.
