The focus of this photoshoot was to capture that dreamy and serene atmosphere of Hyacinthia. Before the shoot, a lot of time was spent styling the wig and makeup. The headpiece and the details of the red-and-white dress are very exquisite, especially the huge blue bow and the lace at the neckline, which have substantial texture and look amazing when worn.
The scene utilized a set decorated with pink and purple flowers, a white angel statue, and a golden birdcage. Combined with the reflective material on the floor, the overall color tone was very soft. During the shoot, to accentuate the lines of the legs and the texture of the White stockings, I deliberately chose this side-sitting pose with bent knees on the floor, which, paired with black platform leather shoes, looked visually very slimming.
In front of the camera, I adjusted my gaze and expressions for a long time, attempting to convey the character's quiet and slightly melancholic temperament. The photographer shot with soft lighting, and post-processing preserved the dreamy blur effect of the background while enhancing the contrast between red and blue, making the White stockings and skin appear even more translucent.
The weather was not great for outdoor shooting this time, so we had to build a studio set indoors, but the atmosphere was not inferior to an outdoor location at all. Several small details of the outfit, such as the subtle patterns on the collar and the small gold ornaments on the shoes, were beautifully showcased in close-up shots. This shoot also taught me a lot about the reflectivity of different fabrics; for example, pure cotton and satin show significant light and shadow differences under a softbox.
I did my best to recreate the character's demeanor. Although doing the whole shoot was exhausting—especially maintaining the leg poses and contracting the core—seeing the finished photos made it all feel worthwhile. For this kind of vintage and fairy-tale style set, poses cannot be too stiff; one needs to relax the body and lean in to present that languid, casual feeling. The entire shooting process went very smoothly, and the costume fabric was breathable without any of the stuffiness or sweating I previously worried about.
The red, black, and gold color-coordinated costume looks very sophisticated under soft lighting, while the material of the White stockings absorbed the light nicely without any blown-out reflections. Overall, the color tone and texture of this photoshoot completely matched my expectations, making it a fantastic shooting experience.
