[Qiuyuan Cosplay] Long Sword Wanderer's Martial Path at Changsha ACC Anime Convention

The lighting conditions at the Changsha ACC Anime Convention were more complex than expected, but we quickly locked onto the black mirrored floor area in front of the booth with excellent reflectivity as our main base. This time, I brought a fan-interpreted look of Qiuyuan from Wuthering Waves. Adding my personal understanding of the character, I made some adjustments to the makeup and accessories to suit the convention's lighting. The black long-sleeved shirt base looks clean and sharp, while the blue-green textured jacket worn over it refracts a soft sheen on its white embroidered totems under overhead lights. A black half-skirt layered over black trousers, paired with lace-up platform leather boots, gives the overall silhouette a draped quality so it doesn't look thin during poses. The wig was specifically chosen in a gradient from black to silver-white ends, half-tied on top with small white hair ornaments so that as I moved around the venue, the white tips flowed naturally, perfectly matching the character's aloof demeanor.

The most eye-catching composition during the shoot was the moment of drawing the blade combined with a lunging step extension. The actual length of the long prop sword was longer than I expected. To avoid looking clunky on camera, I lowered my center of gravity, relying on leg and hip power to stretch out my body's range, pulling the scabbard and the unsheathed blade in opposite directions to build visual tension. This action of lengthening body lines formed a clear lower-body reflection on the reflective floor, instantly amplifying the picture's sharpness through the top-and-bottom mirrored space. Special thanks to the on-site photographer WiFi—the top array spotlights created stunning white bokeh spots, which, combined with the convention's unique booth structures and dark background walls, captured the proud, solitary vibe of a wanderer treading the martial world.

Although this was a personal design interpretation, I kept Qiuyuan's core restraint intact, refraining from bright smiles and instead staring directly into the lens to convey emotion. This cool mode of expression actually made the color-blocking between blue-green and black feel richer in texture. The booth space provided by @Changsha ACC Anime Convention was spacious enough for me to freely try various wide-ranging movements. Holding the sword posture steadily for long periods really tested my arm strength, and layered under lights in a jacket and half-skirt made it easy to work up a sweat. However, seeing the clean, sharp lines in the final photos made all the effort worthwhile. Using this convention opportunity to test the gear on-site, I felt that combining highly reflective floors with overhead point light sources is truly ideal for characters with action elements. Beyond the long sword prop, the embroidery details on the jacket and the pattern on the half-skirt were beautifully presented in close-ups. In this custom look, I tried to blend the wanderer's crisp agility with the character's cool aloofness, expressing the unique flavor of casual cosplay through specific poses and staggered stances. The ACG incentives and Wuthering Waves creator campaign provided extra momentum for this convention photography work, and the venue atmosphere allowed me to fully immerse myself in the character's world. I look forward to refining action details under similar lighting next time.
