[Kamisato Ayaka Cosplay] Heron Princess's Birthday, a Prayer Across Three Years of Companionship

Happy Birthday to Kamisato Ayaka! This year marks the third consecutive year celebrating this Heron Princess's birthday, and I took this perfect opportunity to complete the shoot for all three outfit styles I prepared before.

Every time I shoot Ayaka, I gain distinct feelings. This time, I selected this specific set featuring a plush shawl and an off-the-shoulder design. The overall color scheme is ice blue and snow white. The white fluff texture along the collar and cuffs is extremely soft, creating a wonderful winter atmosphere on camera. The sapphire on the headpiece is a finishing touch, which, paired with the pink bows on the twin tails, preserves the elegance of a young lady while adding a touch of playfulness.

The shooting location was a very traditional Japanese tea room, where the landscape screen backdrop behind perfectly matched the character's temperament. The light and shadow cast on the wooden floor and shoji paper doors carried an exquisite flavor, and the warm indoor lighting hitting the cool-toned attire formed a highly comfortable contrast. To emphasize a dreamy sensation, I specially added drifting petals and glowing specks in post-production, creating a dynamic effect of dancing petals. I personally adore this ethereal atmosphere.

Regarding props, a folding fan with a black base and white flowers, alongside a small white teacup, served as wonderful small items matching the character's everyday life. In the photo where I brace against the ground with one hand and lift the folding fan with the other, maintaining balance was actually quite difficult, and it took several retakes to find the most extended angle, but the final outcome was entirely worth it. The close-up shot holding the teacup is much quieter, intending to convey her gentle side.

Shooting three distinct styles in a row meant a massive workload. I did plenty of homework beforehand on everything from managing the wigs and changing clothes to choreographing each posture. During the shoot, I communicated repeatedly with the photographer regarding angles to both bring out the layered texture of the clothing and allow my gaze to interact with the lens. Color grading during post-processing also took a lot of heart, trying my best to keep the skin tone translucent while highlighting the bright colors of the petals.

Watching this character grow step-by-step over these three years, I harvest fresh insights with every cosplay session. As an enthusiast, being able to express my understanding of the character through the lens brings immense joy in itself. This styling contains a wealth of details, like the rosy-pink tassels at the waist and the straps on the geta sandals, which I intentionally strove to recreate. Although the shooting process was exhausting, seeing that silver-haired young girl gently dancing with her folding fan and smiling faintly in the final images makes everything worth it.

I hope these birthday celebratory photos allow everyone to feel Kamisato Ayaka's elegance and gentleness. Shooting is always full of challenges, but because of this love, I am entirely willing to ponder over every lighting setup and makeup look. This set of photos contains dynamic sleeve-waving as well as static tea-sipping, hoping to exhibit this character's charm from different angles.
