The convention photos of my Ganyu Cosplay from Genshin Impact at the Beijing iJoy Anime Convention are finally in my hands! During the shoot, I deliberately didn't bring any props because I simply wanted to try presenting the character's aura purely through body language and expressions.

Shooting a standing pose is actually harder than imagined; without the support of weapons or props, it's very easy to look awkward and not know what to do with your hands. I referenced some standing pose techniques from fashion shoots and Anime-style photography, emphasizing the waistline, pelvis tilt angle, and hand placements. In the candid snapshots in the photos, movements like a slightly bent knee, lifting one leg, or putting hands behind the back immediately bring out a dynamic feel for the whole person, no longer looking like a stiff standing post.

For expressions, I captured Ganyu's vibe of being both dignified and slightly lazy or tipsy; the gaze needs a sense of focus and shouldn't be too wandering. The black glossy stockings coordinated this time have a great texture, and together with the black shiny high heels, they make the leg lines look exceptionally smooth under the overhead light—long, dark, and slender. Combined with this blue-and-white maid-style short skirt, the visual layering becomes much richer.

The on-site lighting was quite harsh, so during the shoot, we tried to find positions with overhead light or side-backlight to create a contrast of highlights and shadows on the hair and clothing folds. In a convention environment like this, the background can easily get cluttered, so the photographer used a large aperture to darken the background and highlight the subject. Shooting without props conversely gave more room for expressions to play out; there was no need to be distracted by holding things, allowing me to focus entirely on the lens. I'm very satisfied with the overall selection rate. The fluffy skirt hem and fish-tail-like back hem design of this outfit create beautiful dynamic curves when walking or standing on one leg.
