[Xingqiu cosplay] Guhua Sect's Senior Disciple: Day 1 Log at Hangzhou Dreamland

Today was Day 1 of Hangzhou Dreamland anime convention. The venue was packed with people, and the temperature was insanely hot just as everyone said online, but that couldn't stop my determination for a great anime convention photoshoot. Today I brought out Xingqiu cosplay from Genshin Impact—this Chinese-style cosplay look holds a unique charm under the lenses of vendors and photographers alike. The black base outfit paired with extensive gold cloud-pattern embroidery and white lace edging at the collar presents a refined, delicate disposition. For the wig, I went with a deep lake-blue short layered style with textured bangs, paired with vibrant yellow contact lenses to stay faithful to the clever, strategic young master image from fan settings. The circular badge on the chest featuring a blue gem with a watery luster is the centerpiece of the outfit, reflecting brilliant light under the convention ceiling lights. The yellow tassel hanging by the ear swayed gently as I walked, adding a sense of dynamic motion to static photos.

During the shoot, I specifically picked a relatively spacious booth backdrop and used a silver metal rod in hand as a visual extension prop. The camera lens focused on my upper body, emphasizing the texture of these traditional Chinese elements. The venue was crowded, hot, and stuffy, requiring much more frequent makeup touch-ups than usual as sweat easily caused smudging, so I had to constantly monitor my look. Maintaining his signature expression took practice too—balancing character calm without appearing overly aloof. The venue lighting mostly consisted of harsh overhead lights, which are unforgiving for face shadows, so I needed the photographer to use reflectors at proper angles to soften the light and shadow, fully showcasing the costume details and metallic luster.

Walking around all day today was exhausting, but seeing the final shots on the camera, I'm super satisfied with the overall atmosphere. I'll be going back for another day tomorrow with a tight schedule. I've prepared some spare accessories in advance and plan to switch up my poses and standing postures to see if I can capture Xingqiu's calm, strategic, yet modest aura. Tonight I need to touch up my props and wig to save more energy for tomorrow's photoshoot. Conventions are always like this—even though you get physically exhausted, the irreplaceable sense of achievement when seeing your meticulously prepared makeup and styling shine in front of the lens makes it all worth it. Keep pushing forward! No matter the weather, having chosen the path of doing anime convention photoshoots, I'm committed to doing the job right. Tomorrow I'll adjust my angles to capture even more dynamic shots.
