Night convention lights and crowds blended together; taking advantage of the transition break, my Klee companion and I took this photo together under the camera flash. As a cosplayer for Lumine, this night shoot had a rich atmosphere, but having been preparing since morning, our energy was nearly depleted by now. Still, seeing the final outcome makes all the hard work feel completely worth it.
Let's talk makeup and hair styling details first. To faithfully recreate Lumine, I chose a wig with a layered creamy blonde hue, adjusting the hair ornaments at the top multiple times to ensure they kept that light, delicate arc from both front and side angles. For makeup, I kept the color palette light, focusing on deep eye contours and natural lashes. Since Lumine is a Traveler journeying across Teyvat, an overly heavy stage makeup wasn't needed—a fresh, natural, yet heroic look fits her best. The garment pattern was also adjusted, with shoulder straps and chest tightness tested repeatedly to ensure easy wearing while keeping the neckline sharp on camera; the brown leather strap added a neat adventurer touch to the overall Lumine cosplay.
For the accompanying Klee Cosplay, my partner was incredibly dedicated. That large red wide-brimmed hat featured exquisite red bow decorations, paired with iconic elf ear props for a remarkably high level of accuracy. Moreover, Klee's outfit combined white lotus-leaf collars with red-and-black color blocking and black gloves, radiating fairytale charm that created a delightful contrast when standing next to Lumine. When taking this photo, Klee struck a V-sign pose, which, combined with the bright red elements in her eyeshadow, fully released the character's lively and energetic vibe—even passersby couldn't help stealing a glance.
Regarding photography and lighting, because the venue environment was dark with severe backlighting and stray lights, those warm yellow and blue bokeh spots in the background were actually light sources from distant booths. Utilizing the camera's autofocus and flash produced a visual effect with sharp foregrounds and colorful bokeh in the background. In terms of composition, placing both of us slightly above center avoided clutter from passersby while highlighting emotional interaction as we leaned together for support, making the frame compact. The key to these Convention photos is naturalness, avoiding stiff, forced posing.
Participating in this together was a fun experience in our Casual cosplay journey. From queuing early in the morning to completing makeup styling, then navigating through various halls under the bright sun in heavy cosplay outfits, mobility was somewhat inconvenient. Yet the joy of meeting fellow fans who instantly recognized our characters and the sense of validation were the greatest motivations to keep pursuing this hobby. Just like the title "Honorary Knight," we interacted using character voices on site and shared fun tidbits about Genshin Impact lore, bringing 2D character settings into 3D reality.
Cosplay is never just as simple as putting on an outfit. From makeup to props, every detail carries an understanding of the character. Creating great cosplay work isn't about heavy filters, but about fitting expressions and genuine love for the work itself. Though tonight's convention lights weren't perfect, this real, bustling environment gave these Genshin Impact sisters' night photos an authentic, lived-in feel. This is the unique fulfillment that convention-goers cherish. Now, time to enjoy the remainder of this brief yet fun convention time.
