The Fatui Maiden character in Genshin Impact always captures attention at first glance with her distant and ethereal aura. For this convention, I chose this blue-and-white outfit paired with red-and-black ombre long hair to bring the Columbina in my heart to life. The white wing-shaped headpiece is the soul of the entire look. To ensure it remained secure while walking or tilting my head, I used steel clips paired with transparent plastic sheets inside to fix it, keeping the wingtips naturally tilted slightly upward. For hair styling, I added fluffy layers on the side of the crown, allowing the highlights to present a vibrant red-pink gradient even under bright indoor lights.
Among the outfit's details, the high and low crisscross straps on the legs are key to the body's visual balance. To balance aesthetic line presentation with wearing comfort, I selected white elastic straps with moderate stretch, creating an overlapping loop structure around the ankles and insteps to prevent poor blood circulation from being tied too tightly. Since Genshin Impact's character design features barefoot styling, I shot entirely barefoot, keeping clean and stable on the venue floor all day, which actually made the lace-up setup look exceptionally snug and fitted. Paired with a short inner lining and a lightweight tulle outer layer, the entire costume had great breathability, preventing me from feeling overly stuffy amid the crowded convention floor.
To fit the poetic atmosphere of walking with moonlight, I specifically found a spot with an industrial metal ladder at the venue. The circular light structure at the top of the exhibition hall was originally quite rigid, but after the photographer desaturated and darkened the background in post-processing, it produced a fantastic light-and-dark contrast with the brightness of the main subject. I chose a quiet sitting posture, naturally bending my legs and reaching one hand slightly outward, which, combined with the overlay of glowing white particle effects in post-editing, created an image atmosphere floating on the boundary between reality and dreamland. During cosplay photography, I tried to keep my expression somewhat detached, which helped maintain that aloof and indifferent demeanor in front of the lens.
Although the entire outfit looks light, walking around in a noisy convention for a full day actually required considerable stamina. The surface of the metal ladder was quite hard, but it served as a perfect temporary rest and posing spot, allowing me to show limb extension without making the photoshoot overly exhausting. Standing in this character's shoes, I didn't need to do expressive interactions—simply sitting or standing quietly created a magical chemical reaction with the environment. These final convention photos not only record the fruits of costume crafting, but also serve as my expression of the character's serene aura. When taking photos with fellow fans at the convention, everyone's curiosity about the accessories and strap details gave me a great sense of accomplishment. From early material preparation and pattern making to final assembly, every fold direction and hair gradient ratio underwent repeated tuning, ultimately presenting a self-consistent level of completion in the photos. Sitting high in the hall as an anime girl and watching the passing crowds, it felt as though I had truly crossed the barrier between the 2D world and reality, leaving that silence and grace behind on the metal ladder.
