For this cosplay shoot of Columbina, the 3rd of the Fatui Harbingers from Genshin Impact, the main vision was to showcase the character's contrast across different atmospheres, requiring careful conceptualization from makeup styling to shooting. Black, white, and red formed the core tone of the overall look. The wig featured a black base with vibrant red gradients on the inner layers and tips, ensuring dimensional depth in dim lighting without appearing too flat under bright light. For accessories, feather-textured floral hairpieces and red flowers were alternated between scenes to align with the ambient mood. The centerpiece of the outfit was the white sleeveless dress, tailored with crisp black piping and a collar bow. Wrapped in white bandages along the arms, the fit required repeated adjustments to maintain layered visual depth without constricting arm movement. The delicate little bows at the ends of the bandages especially elevated the overall refinement.

The shoot was divided into two distinct atmospheres. The first set featured dark iron bars with red and black side-backlighting, enhancing the dimensional texture of the white fabric and bandages. The black leather armband and the hand grip on the black rose required precise muscle control to project a relaxed, tranquil state despite being held in confinement. With strong light-shadow contrast, directing my gaze through the cutouts of the eye mask required finding a penetrating, focused perspective. The other set shifted to the white piano scene, transitioning into a soft, luminous natural light setting. The makeup was adjusted accordingly: the eye mask was removed to reveal red contact lenses and detailed eye makeup, focusing on presenting the character's serene, elegant side. Sitting barefoot on the white piano bench required maintaining balance while extending my legs naturally, avoiding any rigid awkwardness.

For the makeup, to capture the character's ethereal and enigmatic nature, I applied a sheer, breathable base and emphasized eye contours, varying the thickness of inner and outer eyeliners to adapt to both wearing and removing the eye mask. Before the shoot, my biggest concern was whether the oversized white coat with drop shoulders would look bulky, but with posture adjustments—keeping the shoulders straight and neck relaxed—the oversized cut instead created an airy, otherworldly presence. Experiencing these two different narrative environments—from the aloof chill of holding a black rose to the gentle warmth of resting fingers on piano keys—gave me a deeper, multi-dimensional connection to the character. Even though it involved endless adjustments to bandages and hair accessories, seeing the final harmony between light, shadow, and character presence brought immense satisfaction. Through this Anime-style photography cosplay experience, I truly felt the joy of bringing 2D characters to life through movement, expression, and props, and I hope this shoot conveys that delicate fragility and serene stillness.
