Stepping into this Naraka: Bladepoint Yin Ziping Chalcedony Icy Heart styling, from the initial makeup test to the final photoshoot, it actually went through a lot of polishing on details. The biggest characteristic of this look is its coldness and flowing nature in texture, so to restore the character's temperament, a lot of thought was spent just on the makeup handling. The base makeup was made as clear and clean as possible, paired with an eye makeup and lip color dominated by black and white, allowing me to present an unaggressive agility in front of the lens. The hair accessories are black-and-white bows and pom-poms; after tying them into twintails, the visual focus shifts upward, and with the front bangs framing the face, it's easier to grasp the character's sweetness and heroism.

The costume itself is a modernized white short dress. The biggest highlight lies in the hollow-out at the waist and the black piping, adding to the overall layering so it doesn't look monotonous due to pure white. The 3D hidden patterns and diagonal closure on the garment preserve the charm of traditional Cheongsams, while the edge lace and ruffle stitching blend in the currently popular 2D aesthetic. Paired with white gloves and over-the-knee socks, it visually elongates the proportions of the limbs, making the entire styling more complete.

The venue for this shoot is highly distinctive, a well-crafted traditional style studio photography indoor Chinese courtyard. The raw-wood-colored flooring and steps, paired with that dark-framed circular moon gate window, established a very rich classical foundation. To fit the background concept of the Chalcedony Icy Heart theme, the photographer added a massive amount of white flower elements to the background design, including flower branches draping from above and that exaggeratedly sized faux white magnolia nearby. For lighting, a cold-blue-toned ambient light was adopted, casting onto the white skirt hem and gauze drapes, giving the entire frame a serene night texture. Coordinated with a continuous wind machine, white petals fly through the air; the moment the hair and fabric are swept up by the wind is exactly the dynamic beauty this photo set wants to express.

Speaking of props, I mainly utilized two in this set: a long sword and a semi-transparent folding fan. When holding the sword, the grip needs adjustment to align the sword's tassels with the fluttering direction of the dress hem to reflect the character's combat power; when holding the folding fan, it's mostly sitting or side-lying postures, hoping to showcase the gentle and elegant side of this Chalcedony Icy Heart skin. For those sitting compositions in the pictures, the photographer intentionally let my leg lines extend smoothly, which, combined with the wrapping sensation of the over-the-knee socks, increases the image's extension. Shooting on the wooden platform can be quite hard on the surface, and some semi-leaning postures require finding proper leverage points to avoid unnatural expressions caused by tension.

The entire shoot had high demands for details from the photographer, Shen Yan. For example, the positions where petals scattered, or which strand of hair was blown messy, would be adjusted timely. Shooting Chinese-style cosplay is often not just about striking poses, but more about the sense of interaction with the environment. The background scrolls and tea sets, though only serving as embellishments, beautifully balance the composition in the frame, adding a slice-of-life atmosphere to the originally empty studio set.

White color palettes are actually not easy to shoot under light and shadow, because highlight areas easily overexpose, or dark areas lose layers. This time, the photographer very cleverly utilized the cold light in the background to balance the facial light, keeping the white clothing clean while clearly preserving the detailed textures, which saved a lot of effort in post-processing. Standing on the wooden steps in this outfit, watching the white flowers flying around, made it very easy to merge into the character's emotions. The weightlessness of the costume also made executing movements quite convenient, allowing both standing and sitting postures to maintain excellent lines. A successful piece of Anime-style photography relies on every link working together seamlessly.
