[Justina Gu Cosplay] NARAKA: BLADEPOINT Master of the Hidden Rain Pavilion: Winter Mood of a Blue and White Traditional Outfit and Plush Elements

The Justina Gu Master of the Hidden Rain Pavilion look from NARAKA: BLADEPOINT being shared this time had its main tone set to cold yet agile before the shoot. What attracts me most about this costume is the blue and white outfit color-clashing design, coupled with the white plush trims at the neckline, cuffs, and skirt hem, which visually matches a winter or snowy landscape atmosphere perfectly, looking very warm. For the hair ornament, a highly recognizable white plush cat-ear shape was chosen, breaking the rigid dignity of conventional traditional characters and integrating a touch of anime playfulness. The black long straight wig has great texture; its volume supports the overall silhouette while making the face appear smaller and softer.

Regarding the scene layout for this shoot, the photographer put a lot of thought into it. We used solid wood low tables and long benches, paired with dark grid lattice windows as the background to bring out an antique indoor spatial feel. To balance the dark, heavy tone of the background, several warm yellow antique-styled lanterns were arranged on both sides. These also happened to constitute the main light source of the frame, casting a very soft contrast upon the model. The foreground's white transparent sheer curtains were meticulously designed, draped over the wooden chairs and the floor to simulate a hazy feeling of ice, snow, or mist, fitting beautifully with the concept mood of the character's 'Hidden Rain Pavilion'. Scattered on the ground were a traditional wooden musical instrument and well-spaced faux red plum blossom pot plants. Though these props are static, they fill the entire frame with a narrative sense, as if she were leisurely sitting in a cold plum pavilion.

This shoot experimented with several different sitting poses to showcase different facets of the character. For instance, when reviewing the camera screen playback, I discovered a surprisingly amazing photo of me sitting on the carpet. I sat slightly sideways on the soft white plush rug with my legs naturally bent up, my hand clad in white lace gloves gently resting near my knees. This effortless motion, combined with the luster of the stockings under the lighting, naturally blends the character's coldness with a touch of laziness. Switching between bare feet and wearing high-heeled slippers also provided different stylistic visual options for this photo set.

In truth, staying in the cosplay community for a long time makes one realize more and more that a high-quality set of official photos requires not only the accurate reproduction of costumes and props but, more importantly, a mutual tacit understanding regarding emotions, lighting, and composition between the photographer and the model. This time, we used a large amount of soft-light photography, trying our best to avoid harsh shadows so as to emphasize the texture of the stockings and the details of the costume fabric. For color control, the blue, white, and warm yellow color tones were unified during the early stages, so the post-production basically only required some basic skin texture optimization before outputting. The entire shooting process was highly smooth; shooting in a studio during winter is truly comfortable, avoiding the freezing cold while allowing one to adjust poses peacefully. Seeing Justina Gu's cold, indifferent yet adorable look with plush elements in the final photos makes me feel that every single detail and prop prepared beforehand was entirely worth it. I hope the shooting ideas and small tips shared this time can offer some inspiration to friends who want to try out traditional style cosplay with anime-style photography or those who love similar styles.
