This Firefly independent anime convention tour is back again, and I managed to submit my application right at the deadline, hoping it will pass smoothly. I brought several sets of photos in different styles this time, but the one that satisfies me the most is this vintage sea of books scene built indoors. To create a quiet and slightly mysterious atmosphere, we specially prepared a large number of old books, candles, and vintage candlesticks. Even the floating pages were composited bit by bit during post-processing, though a fan was used on set to blow real paper for assistance, ensuring a more natural transition of light and shadow. To capture the dynamics of the falling pages during the shoot, we tested the shutter speed many times, finally choosing 1/200s paired with continuous shooting to freeze the most ideal moment. Regarding the costume, the inspiration for this outfit actually came from a combination of preppy style and fantasy elements; basic items like a beret and a plaid skirt were accented with a dark shawl and a white shirt, with a golden wig used to brighten the overall tone. The prop team was amazing; the thickness and texture of the books were specially treated, giving them a lot of weight in hand. The lighting at the convention venue was actually quite cluttered, but we used a softbox with warm color temperature gels to dial in this warm yellow tone, unifying it with the candle temperature to avoid interference from ambient light. The overall shooting process went very smoothly, though setting up the scene and adjusting angles took a lot of time. Fortunately, the final photo results exceeded expectations. This independent anime convention tour experience was great, and I can feel the atmosphere at Firefly becoming increasingly mature; both the booths and the photography areas were organized in an orderly fashion. I hope there will be more opportunities like this in the future to turn the scenes in my mind into reality through the lens and cosplay sharing.
