[Jane Doe Cosplay] Dark Alley Daily of a Zenless Zone Zero Proxy: May Day Firefly ACG Expo Convention Photos

Here are some casual convention photos from the Guangzhou Firefly ACG Expo over May Day, capturing a few moments at the venue's edges during the trip. Amidst the bustling crowd, we didn't go out of our way to fight for popular photo spots or grand setups with professional light arrays. Instead, my accompanying photographer and I found a small, secluded space near a fire exit under the windows at the perimeter of the exhibition zone. This set uses no extra fill lights, relying purely on natural skylight from outside and circular industrial overhead lamps, turning those sharply defined black stanchions into natural background framing.

The outfit features a combination of dark techwear style and a red-and-black color block design. Many parts use composite materials mimicking leather texture and patent leather reflectivity, while the upper cutout design combined with metal buckles and black mesh arm sleeves creates strong, geometric lines structurally. The short black wig features gradient orange-red highlights on both sides, creating a warm-cold visual contrast against the large white lightning-like geometric patterns on the miniskirt. To add depth within the narrow hallway, we experimented with crouching, leaning casually against a pillar on one leg, and angling the body in different standing poses. With passersby everywhere, each time the camera position was set, I had to execute the pose quickly and adjust my breathing to keep my shoulders naturally dropped.

When posing with the short black-and-red mechanical prop, the photographer emphasized using fingertip tension to convey a controlled yet impactful presence, resting my chin slightly near the blade edge while meeting the camera with a direct, right-angled gaze. For complete detail, I wrapped a small silver bead chain around the outside of my thigh; though it occasionally snagged on my clothing while walking, it outlined the leg contours perfectly in full-body shots. When capturing the fourth photo holding the large gray ring prop overhead, I looked up through the ring toward the camera, trying to incorporate the white halo of the ceiling light into the ring itself. This seemingly simple pose actually required core strength to keep the prop stable while avoiding scratching my wig or hitting the window behind me with its hard edges.

During the Guangzhou Firefly ACG Expo over May Day, although the hall was a bit stuffy, finding a corner free from direct harsh lights and crowd distractions made the pace of shooting much more composed. Without stacking extra filters, relying solely on natural light sources brought out the subtle sheen along the garment seams and skin texture, giving the overall photos a clear and bright look. As high-fidelity convention photos of Anime-style photography, conveying the character's spirit and movement fluidity on-site wouldn't have been possible without the photographer capturing those fleeting moments. My pose design didn't feature overly fancy elements, relying more on eye contact and body center of gravity to match the cold background equipment. While this style of convention photo isn't as glamorous as large-scale sets, it possesses an authentic ambiance unique to the venue, and I hope these shots offer helpful composition ideas for friends wanting to shoot in similar settings.
