This Shenhe photo set was captured in an outdoor Chinese-style courtyard, themed around 'Galaxy Night: Celebrating Your Birthday Together.' I was the model, with photography and post-processing handled by Li Zhishan Oath. Looking at the final shots, my first impression was how the white halter design and navy blue sleeves reacted to the sunlight—a truly distinctive reflective texture capturing a conflicting beauty between crisp structure and delicate softness.
For hair and makeup, I chose long, straight silver-white hair with blunt bangs and wispy sidelocks, accented by a feather-like ornament atop the head. To replicate the red eyes, I tested numerous contact lenses before choosing a shade with a subtle pinkish-red undertone. The makeup emphasized eye contours while keeping the rest of the face clean and understated to highlight her cool, aloof expression.
It was quite windy on the shooting day, which proved challenging yet yielded unexpectedly stunning effects. Holding the Paper umbrella, we adjusted our stance repeatedly on the stone bridge to find angles that showcased the garment's silhouette without obstructing the view. In the second photo, where the umbrella is held behind me, light pierced through the canopy to silhouette its delicate radial ribs. In the first shot—turning to glance back while holding the umbrella—the photographer took multiple bursts to capture flyaway strands in the wind. The layered skirt and fluttering black sheer fabric added dynamic dimension, while the beaded strings and silver tassels dangling from the sash chimed softly with each step; although inaudible in still images, the sense of motion is palpable.
What captivated me most about this outfit was its asymmetrical cut: the bare left shoulder paired with a blue strap and halter neckline naturally draws the viewer's focus to the collarbone and shoulders. The broad blue sash cinched the waistline, while trailing red ribbons stood out vividly against the dominant white tone, creating a clean red-blue-white triad. Although the skirt is long, its slit revealed graceful leg lines during walking or angled turns, striking an ideal balance between weight and airy lightness through the semi-sheer black tulle overlay.
I usually prefer props that allow for subtle interaction during Outdoor photography, and this Paper umbrella served as a wonderful anchor for my gaze. Rather than dramatic poses, I relied on wrist tilts and shifting gazes. Embodying the birthday celebration theme, I wanted to convey a quiet, gentle warmth beneath her aloof exterior. One photo where I look aside holding the umbrella features a softer gaze, adding emotional warmth to the series.
Overall, this Genshin Impact Shenhe cosplay shoot went exceptionally smoothly. From garment details to color rendition under natural light, everything met my expectations. I hope you enjoy the unique harmony of white hair, red eyes, and this white-and-blue palette, as well as the poetic interplay of light and shadow within the Chinese courtyard. There are plenty of rich details to zoom in on, like the colored waist beads and intricate skirt embroidery, all crafted with authentic, tangible quality.
