[Sangonomiya Kokomi Cosplay] Genshin Impact: An Encounter Between Light Purple Bridal Gown and Summer Lotus Pond

The theme for this photoshoot was a Sangonomiya Kokomi Bridal cosplay look. I've wanted to try this soft, dreamlike color scheme for a long time. The light pink to light blue gradient wig paired with a large bow on top, along with the choker and sapphire pendant resting near the collarbone, fit my vision of a Hydro character in Genshin Impact perfectly. To match the summer lotus pond setting, I chose an off-the-shoulder gown made of sheer chiffon. The ruffled neckline and puffy sleeves created semi-transparent light and shadow effects under the sunlight, while the flowing skirt tulle fluttered with the breeze as I walked, echoing the gentle ripples on the water's surface.

The temperature on shooting day was quite high with plenty of outdoor garden insects, but seeing the lotus-filled pond and distant green brick wooden windows made it all worthwhile. For makeup, I deliberately expanded the blush and eyeshadow blending area to soften facial contours, which paired with purple contact lenses to capture a gentle yet mysterious vibe with this Anime fantasy makeup. The blue-purple bow hairpieces and waist sashes took quite some time to position properly, as we needed to avoid obscuring the collarbone and shoulder line while ensuring they looked natural without feeling unnaturally plastered on.

In terms of Lotus photography, we chose several camera angles. This front-facing half-body shot felt like the best way to showcase the overall costume details. The foreground off-the-shoulder design and choker layers appear crisp, while a subtle body turn exposes the sheer arm fabric and pearl chest decorations. The wooden lattice background and green lotus leaves created a lovely contrast of warm and cool tones, keeping the frame balanced. With so many costume accessories, full-body shots could easily look cluttered, making close-ups and half-body portraits much better at highlighting the exquisite headpiece and necklace.

When shooting Anime cosplay of this style, lighting is crucial—especially avoiding harsh light that overexposes light-colored hair. We used shaded areas under eaves as the primary soft light source while filling in the face with reflectors, keeping skin texture translucent and preserving the wig's gradient color depth. In post-processing, I refrained from excessive skin smoothing, only slightly tweaking the color temperature toward cooler tones to align with Kokomi's refreshing, ocean-like aura.

Lastly, outdoor shoots always come with unexpected surprises—like the wind messing up the wig or the dress hem catching muddy water—but these authentic little episodes make the process so much fun. Although this bridal gown look is gorgeous, it isn't overly heavy; apart from securing the headpiece well, overall comfort was great.
