For these Convention photos, I cosplayed Nagisa Furukawa from Dango Daikazoku. Photographer 蒲牢411 and I worked in seamless sync, capturing the on-site lighting and angles with great precision; seeing the finished photos truly proved that insisting on bringing that massive prop was entirely worth it.

Preparing for this character involved many meticulous details, especially regarding that oversized pink dango plush toy, which dominated the scene. To recreate the character's iconic elements, I hauled it all the way from home to the comic convention floor. Its plush fabric felt wonderfully soft, but its sheer volume was colossal; hugging it while crouching down and standing up required careful balance to avoid bumping into passersby due to blocked sightlines. Yet the instant I held it in my arms, that tangible weight immediately immersed me into the character's emotional world.

Regarding the Cosplay outfit, the off-white jacket was a custom piece: the width of the red stripes on the sailor collar and the red spliced patchwork trims on the cuffs were tailored to match the original design as closely as possible. The deep navy pleated skirt is a versatile staple in 2D daily life school styling, which—paired with glossy brown loafers and clean white mid-calf socks—reflected a crisp, tidy aesthetic on the convention floor. For makeup, I deliberately avoided heavy eyeshadow, relying primarily on a light, luminous base paired with soft, translucent contacts. Together with the reddish-brown medium-short wig and the gentle curve of the bangs, the visual presentation remained soft and inviting, conveying her non-aggressive, gentle warmth. The red hair ornament on the left side was adjusted several times before finally being secured.

The shooting took place in front of a black backdrop drape in a quiet corner of the hall, with a white plush circular rug laid on the floor. To keep the background clutter-free, the photographer used controlled lighting to darken the ambient surroundings, making the subject and the dango pop cleanly from the environment to establish a tranquil, pure atmosphere. In the shots, I explored several poses—such as gently stroking the dango, cradling it in my arms, or resting my chin on my hand in contemplative thought. The white plush rug exhibited great texture under the lights, and the dark background made the pink plush toy stand out remarkably in these Convention photos.

Speaking of the character's story, its core revolves around family, dreams, and the quiet warmth found in everyday life; conveying these seemingly ordinary moments is what touches people most deeply. Recognized by many as a life-changing anime masterpiece, its tearjerking yet healing power naturally led me to soften my usual lively demeanor, focusing on capturing that resilient yet tender daily presence before the lens. Even amidst the noisy convention floor, occasionally being recognized by fellow fans brought genuine warmth and fulfillment.

For post-processing, we skipped complex special effects, returning instead to the authentic feel of the on-site lighting while preserving fabric textures and natural skin grain. This clean, unpretentious editing style felt much truer to Nagisa's pure, grounded personality. Finishing this shoot while cradling the pink dango was physically tiring, but seeing those freeze-frame moments made all the preparation deeply meaningful. It was a joyful collaboration, and I hope these photos convey that special warmth and comforting ambiance intrinsic to Nagisa Furukawa cosplay.
