The subject for this convention photoshoot was Yinlin from Wuthering Waves, featuring paper cups from the GS25 collaboration as special props. Starting with fine details, the city landmark prints on the cups add delightful everyday warmth while echoing the venue's modern atmosphere. During makeup prep, I focused on building dimensional layering in the orange-red wig—adjusting side locks to frame cheekbones, paired with a black headband to anchor visual focus. Selecting elf ear props required careful consideration to match skin tones seamlessly while securing firmly for a natural contour before the camera.
Regarding costume, the blue-and-white color-blocked halter outfit is the soul of the entire look. The tailored upper half features a halter neck that naturally reveals shoulders, showing off necklines while preserving her sharp persona. Detachable sleeves with crisp blue and white ruffled layering enhance vertical elongation. I paid close attention to the black choker's length, ensuring a snug fit without clutter. The ID badge holder hanging at the chest added a subtle realism fitting for convention logic. To match the blue-and-white color scheme, I selected matte foundation so facial light-shadow transitions rendered softly under harsh venue overhead lights.
During shooting, the photographer skillfully captured three distinct expressions. The first pose with raised arms tested shoulder flexibility, though elastic fabric prevented awkward creasing or shifting. The second front close-up was my favorite, balancing expression, makeup detail, and lighting contrast impeccably. The beauty mark under the eye was clearly defined alongside her signature blue hoop earrings, refining overall quality. The third leaning-forward pose introduced playful interactivity, exuding effortless composure.
The venue shooting environment proved quite challenging. Bright overhead matrix lights easily produce unnatural shine on the forehead and nose, so I reinforced localized setting powder beforehand. Yet I thoroughly enjoyed this industrial backdrop—rows of bright ceiling light tubes transformed through wide-aperture lenses into soft bokeh, perfectly matching cybernetic and modern urban aesthetics. Furthermore, because the costume features substantial white areas prone to overexposure under event lighting, we repeatedly adjusted exposure compensation with the photographer to render balanced blue-white color contrast.
This trip wasn't solely about taking photos; experimenting with GS25 collaboration elements offered a fun dimension-breaking experience. Preparation—from wig thinning and earring weight testing to crafting sleeve ruffles—strove to present the ultimate state on site. Despite bustling convention crowds, staying focused muted the surroundings, leaving only authentic character expressions before the lens. Confidence in front of the camera stems from thorough preparation.
Overall, while this outfit lacks heavy ballgown skirts or complex metallic armor, its distinct color blocking and lightweight tailoring lend an exceptionally refreshing appeal. Going light allowed deeper focus on expressions and body language. If encountered at a convention, its recognizable silhouette stands out clearly. Through this shoot, I gained a deeper intuitive connection to Yinlin from Wuthering Waves, whose character traits shine through this styling. The purest joy of cosplay lies in bringing beloved settings into reality, capturing them through the lens, and leaving concrete memories within the convention's vibrant atmosphere. This experience remains a cherished mark worth preserving.
