Outside the Xiamen Golden Dolphin Anime & Game Carnival, the wind was strong and the sunlight was exceptionally dazzling, yet this set of convention photos unexpectedly captured a highly translucent summer feel. This time I cosplayed Kazami Yuuka from Touhou Project, and the overall styling's tone was an attempt to integrate the character's elegance and floral elements into this outfit that blends western-style dresses with Lolita fashion.

The most eye-catching part of this outfit is the red-and-white checkered spliced long dress, with the outer layer of white lace ruffles and sheer tulle layered over it, presenting rich depth when the skirt spins. The black half-body corset features a lace-up and thin strap design, which, paired with the lace splice at the collar and the red-and-white checkered bow at the waist, beautifully partitions the upper and lower body proportions while subtly highlighting a bit of the body's curves. The black neck ornament worn inside carries subtle shimmer details; though hidden in the shadows, its texture looks excellent up close. The white off-the-shoulder lace sleeves on the arms serve as a perfect finishing touch, preventing the dress from looking too heavy and adding a touch of grace.

Outdoor shooting, especially around the periphery of an anime convention, makes light incredibly hard to control. The sun was massive today, and the heavy backlight heavily tested the photographer's control of light, but it also beautifully hit the edges of the wig and lace to form gorgeous halos, echoing the golden yellow of the sunflowers in color. The white lace parasol and the sunflowers are the most important props; the edges of the parasol are adorned with sunflowers and green leaves, and though holding it was a bit heavy and made my arms sore after shooting for a while, opening it up to serve as a frame or simply holding it in hand beautifully highlighted the character's atmosphere as the Master of Flowers. The white hat decorated with flowers on my head was also highly practical, not only pulling down the silhouette of the head but also blocking part of the leaking harsh light.

In fact, shooting outdoors in a crowded and complex environment like an anime convention, with passersby frequently entering the frame, means the photographer can only rely on a wide aperture to blur out the background and completely focus on me and the props. I also tried my best to avoid eye contact with the crowd, finding some side-profile or looking-back poses to reinforce the elegant and composed feeling. This hairstyle features light green, slightly wavy short hair, which, when paired with clean, light eye makeup, perfectly neutralized the maturity brought by the red-and-black outfit, adding a touch of tenderness to the overall presence.

My greatest insight from this shoot was actually making subtractions under harsh light. No exaggerated movements are needed; as long as you naturally hold the flowers and parasol and stand firmly, your posture is already enough to convey the character's aura. While this set of photos might not be a massive blockbuster, the combination of sunlight, sunflowers, and this dress indeed captured that fresh and bright summer feel I wanted. If there are other cosplayers wanting to cosplay the same character, you really have to be mentally prepared for the props—hold the flowers and parasol firmly, find the right angle under the backlight, and your rate of getting great shots will be much higher.
