[Diaochan Cosplay] Honor of Kings Midsummer Night Convention Photos

Convention photos from May's iJoy convention! This set of photos sat on my computer for a while after editing, but today I thought I'd organize and share them. The atmosphere at the con was fantastic, and the overhead lighting in this booth was very distinctive. I was quite satisfied with the light and shadow quality of the photos, so I decided to keep a record.

Let's first talk about the overall styling concept. Since I chose Diaochan's Midsummer Night skin design from Honor of Kings, the focus of the makeup and hair was definitely on an "ethereal fairy" and "elven" feel. Long silver-white hair paired with pointed elf ear accessories, along with the blue teardrop gemstone on the forehead as a visual anchor, instantly brightened the face's palette. I didn't go for heavy makeup, emphasizing elongated eye lines to make my gaze look more lively. Combined with soft lip colors, it was tailored to match the light, slightly enchanting character vibe from the original game art.

Real effort went into the costume details. The white corset top is fitted, with gold-and-blue chest patterns and a rigid choker collar providing a structured element that balances an overly delicate look. A white lily ornament on the shoulder contrasts strongly with voluminous, sky-blue gradient cuffs to create rich color layering, while a metallic four-leaf clover buckle and metal floral accents at the waist serve as finishing touches. To recreate that flowing aesthetic, lightweight chiffon and organza were chosen for the cuffs. Although wearing this at a summer convention was a bit warm, the ethereal dynamic motion when walking or posing was a huge plus.

The lower half's white layered mini-skirt and platform boots are another part I love about this outfit. The irregular cut of the skirt showcases leg lines prominently, while white platform high-heeled boots adorned with dark blue and gold leaf decorations visually elongate body proportions. This perfectly fits the fantasy aesthetic of Midsummer Night, delivering both airy grace and structural power.

Regarding posing, these two photos showcase two distinct states. For the sitting pose, I deliberately chose a black high stool on site because a relaxed seated posture allows the wide sleeves to spread out nicely, while crossed legs highlight the skirt's layers. The standing pose features a slight body tilt paired with hand gestures, allowing the dress hem to hang naturally and conveying a tension like preparing to dance. I must admit, overhead lighting at venues really tests Cosplay photography angles, as circular industrial ceiling lights can easily overexpose hair. Fortunately, the photographer managed the lighting expertly—blurring the background and capturing shadows to make the subject pop out from the chaotic convention crowd.

Walking around a convention in these platform boots was truly physical exertion—my soles were quite sore after half a day! However, to make the overall outfit proportions look great, the effort was well worth it. On the shooting day, I met many fellow fans asking for photos; everyone was intrigued by the combination of elf ears and costume color tones, making for a super enjoyable atmosphere.

For me, these convention photos are a delightful memory from May's convention schedule. Great lighting, faithful character recreation, and discovering a high stool on site that served as a prop allowed this photo set to capture the playful, mysterious essence belonging to the character.
