As Eyjafjalla the Hvít Aska, the visual core of this look is its soft and fluffy texture. To capture this feeling, we put a lot of effort into everything from the initial styling design to the final shoot execution. The main body of the costume utilizes a large area of white base complemented by light blue ruffles, which looks exceptionally fresh. For the headwear, to match Eyjafjalla the Hvít Aska's light and agile traits, I specifically selected a layer of fluffy, light-colored wig paired with a head ornament featuring soft white pom-poms and a huge blue bow; this clash of materials instantly maxes out the overall softness.
In terms of details, the blue bow tie at the neckline, the large bow at the waist, and the small red squares embellishing the skirt hem all help this costume break out into layers amidst the light color palette. The sleeves and skirt hem both feature extensive lace and ruffle treatments; this large area of ruffles has a natural sense of air flow, so the skirt flutters naturally with just a bit of movement or wind, giving the captured photos an inherently airy, dynamic feel. On my feet are dark Mary Jane shoes paired with white over-the-knee socks—this classic combination adds a fairy tale style playfulness to the entire look. For the makeup, we followed a soft and clear route this time. The base makeup is very translucent, and the eyeshadow is a light milk-tea color, naturally enlarging the eyes with false eyelashes, topped with a glossy jelly lip look to perfectly align with the character's effortless charm.
Aside from the costume, makeup, and hair, what took the most effort in this set were the handmade props. That giant book prop was made by folding and splicing huge pieces of cardboard together, then resurfacing it with kraft paper. The text on it was handwritten by copying down paragraphs from classic fairy tales; although it's not printed text, this handwritten quality fits the vibe of a fantasy picture book perfectly. The colorful illustrations on the pages were printed separately and then pasted on; both the layout and gluing took a lot of time. Standing the prop book up was a bit of a hassle, and the support stand on the back had to be temporarily reinforced because it would fall over with the slightest touch, so we could only lean the book against a tree for support right after finishing a fixed-point shot. The fork prop is made of solid wood, polished to a very smooth texture, and I tied the light blue ribbon on it myself. To complement the frame, we also placed a massive red paper-folded flower and a large number of playing cards in the scene.
The shooting location selected was a park lawn with thick, old trees, where the sunshine leaked through the canopy to form a beautiful Tyndall effect, highly suited for a fantasy fairy tale style texture. A difficult part during the shoot was controlling the placement of the playing cards, as the outdoor wind would blow them away at any moment; we had to wedge the playing cards into the grass patches one by one, striving to keep all elements in place before each shutter press. To recreate the wondrous feeling of falling onto the grass and falling asleep in front of a fairy tale book, I kept trying highly relaxed positions when posing, such as sitting on the ground with both hands supporting myself, or simply half-lying down to stretch out—absolutely no forced posing, because once the posture gets too tense, that "soft and fluffy" feeling vanishes. When holding that wooden fork prop, I also tried to grip it with one hand as if it were a randomly picked-up toy, making it a natural part of the interaction.
Honestly, the initial makeup test and finding the right angles during early prep took quite a long time, but thanks to the photographer's patient guidance and the assistant's constant help arranging the skirt hem, it all came together. When the natural light dappled beautifully across my body, paired with that giant "storybook," I felt it was all completely worth it. The colors in this set of photos are incredibly rich, and the white-and-blue color scheme looks exceptionally fresh and bright against the green background of the lawn. For the final color tone, we preserved the natural light feel and made a tiny warm-toned micro-adjustment, adding a touch of laziness to the frame. The overall atmosphere should perfectly match the character's inherently soft and healing temperament during this outdoor cosplay session.
