This photoshoot features a set of indoor scene official photos of Fu Xuan and Qingque from Honkai: Star Rail.
To match the classical elegance of Xianzhou Luofu, we specially chose an indoor residence with a traditional Chinese wooden structure as our shooting location. The circular screen with calligraphy handwriting in the background forms the visual focus of the image. Together with the surrounding wooden grid windows and doors, and the straw-woven futon mats on the floor, the overall color tone is warm and primitive, perfectly fitting the environment setting for the characters' daily rest.
We put a lot of energy into restoring the costumes, makeup, and styling this time. Pink-haired Fu Xuan cosplay features a headpiece with rabbit ear elements, and the metallic crystal ball accessory on her chest echoes her intricate white, pink, and purple dress to reflect a delicate fantasy style. On the other hand, Qingque cosplay features short brown hair, wearing a dark brown top with gold trim paired with a flowing blue and white long skirt. Under the soft indoor light, the fabric textures of both outfits show a wonderful sense of layering.
During the shoot, the main focus was to express the relaxed state of the two stealing a moment of leisure from their busy schedules. Picture 2 freezes a moment of interaction: holding a wooden cup prop in my hand, paired with a seated posture and a relaxed demeanor, I tried to highlight Fu Xuan's usual calmness; meanwhile, Qingque props her chin with one hand and tilts her face up toward the lens, perfectly capturing that unspoken understanding between the characters. The sharp, straight lines of the Chinese-style furniture form a great visual balance with the soft curves of the costumes, keeping the image from looking rigid.
Regarding the arrangement of light and shadow, a soft side-backlight was applied on set, casting onto the characters and wooden props. The shadow transition is natural without deliberately pursuing high contrast, making this lighting highly suitable for creating a classical and quiet indoor atmosphere. At the same time, utilizing the blurred purple flower branches in the lens foreground as embellishments not only serves a framing purpose but also enhances the spatial breathing room of the image, making the focus on the subject more natural.
As content creators, when building a Chinese fantasy-style scene, the compatibility between the environment and the characters is a critical evaluation point. The dark raw wood furnishings chosen this time pair beautifully with the strongly modern character costumes, preventing the scene from stealing the characters' focus. Controlling the duo cosplay composition was also a point of focused practice this time; by utilizing depth of field to separate the foreground and background character relationship, both appear harmonious without looking crowded in the same frame. Overall, the shooting process for this photo set was very smooth, and the final finished photos beautifully restore that lazy and cozy Xianzhou daily life atmosphere in my mind through Chinese-style photography.
