This Justina Gu cosplay outfit has been on my wishlist for a long time, and seizing the opportunity at the convention, I finally brought this cool, aloof character from NARAKA: BLADEPOINT into reality. The poetic themes of cold river night shadows, jade-washed ice steeds, bones of frost and snow, and robes of wind and moon aligned seamlessly with the shoot's concept. To deliver the utmost visual impact, I poured extensive preparation into makeup and styling. The base makeup pursued a clean, translucent porcelain finish; bright blue contact lenses were chosen to accentuate the piercing clarity of her gaze, paired with natural nude lips to sustain that ethereal, untouched coolness before the lens.
In terms of wardrobe, the details on this white modified Qipao are remarkably rich. The mandarin collar with traditional frog buttons and gold piping added refined sophistication. The golden floral embroidery across the chest and high side slits preserved traditional Chinese aesthetic charm while infusing contemporary elegance. To enrich visual dimensions, the sleeves featured long gloves combining lace and satin paneling, creating an exquisite textural contrast between the semi-sheer lace along the upper arm and the sleek finish across the hands. The golden waist chains and tassel ornaments swayed gently with each stride, enlivening the frame. Beneath the skirt, I paired floral-patterned Black stockings, creating a dramatic black-and-white contrast that elevated the atmospheric presence instantly.
For the wig, I selected silver-white long straight hair, styling it into low twin tails tied with soft blue ribbons to avoid monotony. The anime convention floor was inherently bustling, so to evoke the moody cold river night shadow ambiance, we waited until dusk had completely fallen. Leveraging distant waterside illumination and background reeds, we utilized predominantly cool-toned lighting to render skin tones luminous while echoing the iconic glacial aesthetics of NARAKA: BLADEPOINT.
Outdoor shooting truly tests physical stamina—especially pairing a high-slit gown with heels, where standing and kneeling across stone pavers demanded impeccable core balance. To keep movements looking natural, I continually calibrated standing angles and kneeling postures, ensuring the skirt hem and lines of the Black stockings flowed gracefully on camera. The delicate lace gloves also required constant caution to avoid snags. While a full day at the convention was exhausting, seeing the finished interplay of light and shadow made every revision and effort worthwhile. I explored multiple stances—from upright poses showcasing full-body proportions to quiet kneeling postures—hoping to convey an aloof yet resilient presence. That wraps up this convention shoot! Hope it brings you a fresh visual experience—see you at the next shoot!
