This time I cosplayed Tribbie from Honkai: Star Rail, shooting a set imbued with a winter vibe and European street style. The overall styling centers around short red hair and white floral ornaments, paired with blue-eyed makeup to restore the character's lively charm.
Starting with the headwear for this shoot, the white five-petal flower hair ornament on the forehead paired with a dark blue hairband was fine-tuned while faithfully restoring the original design, bringing the facial visual focus closer together. The wig is a bright red bob with layered bangs to avoid a stiff look; paired with bright blue colored contacts, the eyes stay sharply focused in close-up shots.
As for the costume, large areas of white intertwined with off-white, edged with bronze and gold trimming that produced lovely reflective textures under sunlight. The heart-shaped metal ornament on the chest carries strong design flare; hollowed wing patterns and curling motifs give flat fabric a three-dimensional visual depth. The oversized bright red bow on the shoulder serves as the main vibrant accent, balancing the red-and-white scheme seamlessly. The sleeves and wrist guards feature asymmetrical tailoring—brown leather gloves combined with dark riveted oversleeves preserve character playfulness while adding techwear-style detail. On my feet were asymmetrical boots of varying height—white lace-up tall boots paired with black buckled short boots, accentuating leg lines just right.
The camera equipment used was a Sony α7 IV paired with a Tamron 35-150mm f/2-2.8 lens. The advantages of this lens are obvious: covering wide-angle to telephoto focal lengths handles composition needs across different scenarios with ease. Especially outdoors, the 35mm end brings out spatial depth from the plaza and European architecture, while the 150mm end beautifully compresses the background to accentuate facial expressions and garment details. Sony α7 IV's Eye AF and color rendering were a huge help during this shoot; even under direct sunlight, details in the white costume were preserved without blown-out highlights.
Two venues with contrasting atmospheres were selected. The indoor portion was shot in front of a wooden-framed glass window adorned with numerous white snowflake stickers; combined with the wooden grain of the frame, it built a cozy winter sun feeling. This setting was ideal for half-body and seated poses, with light scattering through the glass to form soft highlights on my red hair. The outdoor portion was shot in a European-style block featuring black wrought-iron railings—white walls, clean steps, and distant pillars gave the frame a pristine transparency, making this outdoor setting perfect for full-body shots.
The entire set experimented with various postures: a gentle shot leaning on the balcony railing with head slightly bowed, an interactive perspective extending both hands toward the camera, and a lively freeze-frame standing on one leg with arms wide open. Particularly with the single-leg standing full-body shot, sunlight captured the character's innocent, playful demeanor, while pose tension brought out both the skirt layers and shoe details. Additionally, we tried dramatic Dutch angles during shooting, breaking conventional eye-level perspectives to add motion and visual impact to static poses.
We encountered a few minor challenges during the shoot—for instance, the fluffy skirt was prone to getting messy in outdoor wind gusts, requiring constant readjustments to the pleats; also, strong reflections off the red hair and blue eyes under bright sunlight placed high demands on metering accuracy, relying heavily on toggling between highlights and shadows to capture the most natural texture. Makeup was kept clean and subtle with translucent base makeup and natural lip tones to maintain the character's approachable warmth. The entire shoot went smoothly, and I'm very grateful to the photographer for patiently guiding angles and lighting on set. From accuracy to final photographic presentation, I am quite satisfied with this look, and I hope these photos convey all the cuteness and vitality of this character to everyone.
