The concept for this shoot leaned heavily into a dark Gothic style, centered around a crimson and black palette to cultivate an aloof yet decadent opulence. To mirror Phrolova's temperament in Wuthering Waves, the wardrobe paired a plunging V-neck glossy faux-leather bodice with red lace paneling. The cuffs featured dramatically flared ruffles, while the layered skirt incorporated diverse textiles to grant heavy kinetic presence during spins. Short green hair accented with pastel pink and white streak highlights, combined with a single black eyepatch and a crimson rose choker, immediately established an intense visual focal point.
The prop team forged a colossal silver cross greatsword that proved exceptionally heavy in hand. To convey effortless balance and kinetic authority before the lens, I practiced gripping and shouldering stances prior to shooting—deliberate wrist torque and forearm tension were essential to avoid looking rigid. The polished blade cast strong specular glints, catching the studio key lights to produce a blade-gleam effect that heightened visual drama.
The studio staging was executed with meticulous care: a carved black leather throne, a glowing crimson clock face behind, cross motifs, and tangled black iron chains together conjured the solemn atmosphere of a ruined fortress. Crimson roses, white lilies, and red spider lilies were woven through the foreground and background, injecting organic vitality into an otherwise cold, austere space. Illumination pushed a sharp crimson-and-black contrast: cool-toned narrow spotlights targeted my face and the steel edge to isolate the subject, while ambient fill was flagged off to preserve a veil of shadow and enigma.
Throughout the session, channeling Phrolova's sharpest, most commanding persona required keeping my gaze frosty and disciplined, stripping away extraneous micro-expressions. Seated upon the throne, I paid close attention to lower-body geometry, leveraging the high slit of the layered skirt to reveal clean leg lines while keeping my core and spine tall. During posing, I continually calibrated angles so the broad crossguard of the greatsword echoed the sweeping arc of the crimson hem. Despite the cumbersome wardrobe and weighty props, seeing the specular glow play across the cold steel and tiered lace made every ounce of effort worthwhile. Every nuance of makeup and prop crafting was refined to express that haunting sensation of blooming amidst decay.
