[Changli Cosplay] Wuthering Waves Changli: A Pink and White Dreamscape

Preparing for this shoot as Changli took quite a bit of time in pre-production. Because this costume reveals a good deal of skin, the standards for physique and complexion were naturally demanding. I started intensive skincare several days in advance to ensure my skin would look smooth and refined under intense lighting. When test-fitting the Pink-white gradient wig, its length felt somewhat exaggerated, yet to match the trailing hemline of the dress, we preserved that dramatic, cascading flow.

On the day of the shoot, getting into the outfit alone took nearly an hour. The white-and-pink sheer chiffon dress connects via multiple straps and metallic hardware buckles, requiring painstaking adjustments—especially around the deep V-neckline to ensure a flush fit against the body, paired with delicate gold chains and a choker so visual focus centered on the collarbones and jewelry accents. The bright orange-red opera glove was undeniably the crowning touch: though bold, it resonated harmoniously with the overarching pink palette. Its flame motifs shimmered subtly under the light; to keep the glove firmly in place on my arm without slipping, I secured it carefully from the inside so hand gestures retained fluid, unbroken lines.

The set was built around white water architecture. The white marble and water surfaces created strong reflections, presenting both advantages and challenges. The upside was that my skin appeared exceptionally porcelain and luminous; the challenge was preventing highlights from blowing out. Throughout the shoot, I continually discussed light angles with the photographer to make the most of natural light shining through the sheer dress, capturing that breathtaking, hazy translucent texture.

To showcase clean, elongated leg lines, I tackled several challenging postures. For example, lying beside the pool with legs crossed and elevated required engaged core muscles, where slightly flexing or pointing the toes dramatically altered the visual silhouette. The pose suspended on the pool's edge called for leaning the torso slightly backward, propping myself up with one hand while forming a mudra gesture with the other, all while keeping a calm, effortless expression rather than looking strained. It was physically demanding, yet for every shutter click, I pushed to dial in my best state.

I also opted to go Barefoot. While simple, being Barefoot grounded the character and felt perfectly suited to this celestial, dreamlike aesthetic. The sculpted definition of ankles and arches paired with the white drapery produced a pure, striking visual elegance before the lens. Framed through the poolside foliage and classical white statues, the composition gained rich depth, while metallic bangles on my arms and wrists introduced an exotic, mystical touch.

Regarding facial expressions, I rehearsed repeatedly in front of the mirror beforehand. Changli's gaze is typically serene, carrying a faint, subtle warmth. To complement the amber contact lenses, I deepened the shadows at the outer corners of the eyes to add depth. Whether resting on my stomach or reclining sideways, facial angles were critical to keep contours dimensional under directional light without crushing the styled wig.

The staging offered remarkable layering—pool edges, white staircases, and distant botanicals were all utilized across varying heights. Low angles elongated the legs, while high angles framed the character's solitude within the vast, ethereal environment. In interacting with these white stone structures, I kept movements gentle and fluid, as though resting peacefully within my own domain.

The session stretched from the afternoon into twilight. Continually adjusting poses and fabrics was rigorous, but the process was deeply enjoyable. Seeing the raw previews in-camera reassured me that the final frames would be spectacular. The finished color palette is wonderfully gentle—a rich tapestry of pink, white, gold, and orange that feels luminous without being harsh. Embodying Changli is about far more than garments; it is about projecting her inner presence. I hope these images convey that unique balance of power and gentleness, as every cosplay remains a rewarding process of understanding and drawing closer to a character.
