This shooting location was chosen indoors with a large floor-to-ceiling window. The natural light filtering through the curtains and the indoor cool-toned lighting formed a sharp contrast, making it very suitable for shooting this cool and badass style. In terms of clothing, we prepared two sets of contrast-colored uniforms in black and white. I wore a white short-sleeved shirt; the metal buttons on the collar and chest, along with the armbands and shoulder badges, really lifted up my whole spirit and look. The lower body was paired with black leather shorts, and the texture of the leather had a slight reflection under the light, forming a strong visual impact with the white shirt on top. The other set was a black crop top and short skirt, accented with a metal-buckled belt at the waist, presenting a sharper style. Both sets of outfits were matched with seamed black tights and black ankle-strap platform high heels, which lengthened the overall proportions while adding a cold and glamorous atmosphere to the frame.
During the shoot, to keep the pictures from looking too monotonous, we kept trying different poses and postures. The standing pose required shifting the center of gravity to one leg while extending the other leg slightly forward, which better showcased the high heels and leg lines. For the sitting pose, we needed to keep the back straight while making the hand placement on the sofa look natural and not rigid. Standing beside, with my hand resting on my partner's shoulder, this movement actually required engaging the core to keep the body stretched. We needed to maintain a cold, untouchable Yujie style aura, keeping facial expressions from being too relaxed and injecting a hint of sternness into our gazes. However, to avoid looking too stiff, we fine-tuned the angle of our chins or directed our gazes in different directions to capture more natural moments.
The photographer used a large-aperture prime lens throughout the entire session, blurring out the background sheer curtains and sofa nicely to focus the visual attention entirely on us. Since the indoor natural light was relatively soft, the photographer added an external flash from an oblique side to enhance the luster of the tights and make the leg lines more three-dimensional. When shooting uniform-style photos, details are extremely important, such as clothing wrinkles, collar positions, and the smoothness of the tights—all need constant adjustment. Especially at the junction between the leather shoes and the tights, even a slight unevenness would be very obvious through the lens. During breaks, we continuously adjusted our clothing to ensure the quality of every single photo.
After finishing the entire set, the biggest feeling was that standing in high heels for a long time is indeed exhausting, but seeing that cool and badass visual effect in the final photos made all the hard work worth it. The two of us cooperated with great tacit understanding, supporting each other and stacking our auras, giving this duo photoshoot an exceptional presentation. This was also a highly satisfying collaboration for us, and we hope to completely record this cool and badass style.
