Digging up a set of backlog photos to share today—this time featuring The Herta's look from Honkai: Star Rail. Before shooting, I actually deliberated for quite a while because this outfit is so rich in detail, blending the mystical allure of a classic Witch costume with clear sci-fi design elements.

Let's start with the outfit: the main body features an off-the-shoulder, cinched-waist design in black and purple, fitting tightly around the waist, accented with neck accessories and a purple bow at the collar, alongside muted silver jewelry across the chest. The sleeves are uniquely handled using breathable, semi-transparent mesh that forms wide lantern sleeves—concealing the upper arms without looking bulky. The lower skirt has multiple layers; the outer black layer is printed with intricate white totems and geometric patterns that drape dynamically as I move or sit. On my feet are black lace-up chunky-heeled boots, meticulously crafted with metallic buckles on the toes and side straps, playing a crucial role in lengthening my lower body proportions.

The most eye-catching feature is definitely the massive purple-and-black wide-brimmed pointed hat. Its firm structure holds the silhouette of the entire look, neatly framing the face in a focused visual zone. For hair, I used a light-colored long wig styled with thin side braids, paired with light purple contact lenses and black cheek markings to stay as true as possible to the character's expression.

This session was split between two completely different atmospheres. Photos 2 and 3 were captured during a Gaming room photo shoot filled with neon lights, where a large metallic sequin backdrop and purple ambient lighting added a strong cyberpunk edge. With game footage running on the computer screen, we used environmental light to highlight facial contours. Combined with black boots and the purple witch hat, it created a modern, tech-infused aura. Photo 3's shushing pose especially captures that unquestionable, mysterious demeanor.

Photos 4, 5, and 6 shifted into a warm-toned vintage study environment. We found a brown leather sofa set against retro lattice windows, where sunlight softened through white curtains. During the tea-tasting shot, the small white porcelain cup and saucer were prepared by the prop crew, accompanied by a translucent blue crystal ball nearby that refracted gorgeous colors in the soft light, creating a deeply tranquil atmosphere.

For the cross-legged shot on the sofa, I lifted the hat brim slightly to reveal facial features while angling my legs and boots so visual weight balanced naturally between my face above and waistline/legs below. For the shot kneeling on the floor reading a book, we used the fireplace behind me as a light source in the dark, creating striking light-and-shadow contrast that added rich texture to this Anime-style portrait.

During post-processing, color grading focused on preserving the mystical feel of purple while darkening the background to make the subject pop. Shooting this set was quite a challenge since the oversized hat easily blocked my vision, requiring frequent communication with the photographer on set to find optimal angles. Sharing this today is simply a way to document this work; bringing out these complex outfit details and distinct scenic textures through the lens makes it all worthwhile.
