From the moment I received this black dress custom design made of black lace, I had been eagerly looking forward to the second day of CD29. As Robin from Honkai: Star Rail, this time I set aside her original ornate gown in favor of a black off-the-shoulder long dress steeped in dark gothic aesthetics. The high-slit cut paired with pointed black high heels visually elongated my leg lines, while the heavily layered black lace arm sleeves brought a subtle, misty sense of lightness.
The iconic yellow halo above my head required precise suspension using fine threads, and while the gradient white-and-light-purple feather wings on both sides were small, positioning them correctly was quite a test. To fit the "broken angel" fan-concept vibe, I specifically chose a cool-toned base makeup paired with light green contact lenses and dark lip glaze. For props, a solid black lace folding fan added to the elegance, while a red rose corsage on my wrist served as a vibrant splash of color amidst the black, white, and gray palette, bringing narrative tension to the frame.
The convention hall was crowded with people, but photographer Shen Qingyuan was adept at finding great angles. Using a large aperture combined with a telephoto lens, the cluttered crowd and industrial concrete hall background behind me were softly blurred into deep bokeh, locking the visual focus firmly on my half-body and full-body postures. The biggest pleasant surprise was borrowing A Si's bird plushie; holding the matching cotton doll in my arms or setting it on the concrete floor below created an adorable gap-moe contrast between doll and cosplayer, enhancing the anime atmosphere on site.
During the shoot, I had to constantly adjust the angle of the lace folding fan and my body's center of gravity. Especially with those pointed high heels, although comfort was slightly sacrificed, they truly showcased Robin's aura as an elegant character. Through several pose sets—including extending a hand to invite the lens, half-veiled expressions, and gentle gazes holding the plushie—I strived to align myself with the artistic mood of "blooming on one's own terms."
Even if for just a single day, interpreting Robin with such a custom design amidst the bustling convention was a truly special experience for me. The dress, wings, plushie, and halo—these physical props and garments—carried my deep love for this character and the 2D anime world. I look forward to taking this outfit out again in the future to capture more photos under interesting light and shadow in Convention photography sessions.
