In coordination with this "New Year's Night Banquet" theme, I specially designed a black and red dress look and completed this shoot in a vintage banquet hall scene. The overall atmosphere leans toward a rich, gothic-style magnificence.
Starting with the makeup and styling, the silver-white short wig was meticulously trimmed before the shoot to make the hair strands lightweight and layered. The black hair accessory on the forehead is one of the visual focal points, extending with delicate red teardrop-shaped embellishments, which, paired with the pink flower on the right side, neutralizes the cold stiffness of the deep black and echoes the overall color system. The base makeup used a cool white shade to highlight the character's cold, sharp edge, and the red dot below the corner of the eye is the soul of the entire makeup, making the gaze look more piercing.
In terms of clothing, the inner layer is a black tube top with a patterned lace-up design, while the outer layer is covered by layered black tulle tutu skirts. The exaggerated red lantern sleeve design forms a highly saturated contrast visually. The white four-leaf clover-like decoration on the choker, paired with the playful pink ribbon, is definitely a finishing detail in the outfit. The tights selected a pair of black tights with a slight gloss, coordinated with multiple bright pink bow decorations at the calves and ankles, breaking the dullness of the dark outfit. Paired with black thick-heeled high-heeled leather shoes, it makes the overall leg lines appear exceptionally long in front of the lens in this black tights outfit.
The selection of the scene perfectly matches the baseline of this set of photos. The main character is a dark red leather upholstered vintage sofa, decorated with intricate and gorgeous gold carvings around the edges. On the long table, a white wax candelabra with a golden base, exquisite glass wine cups, and vessels holding green grapes and green pastries are carefully arranged. The deep red velvet curtains in the background, the blue stained glass on the left, and the classical floral oil painting placed on the easel on the right jointly construct an immersive, aristocratic night banquet scene.
In terms of light and shadow scheduling, the photographer adopted a strong main light source shining directly on the character, while preserving shadows in the dark areas of the background, creating a deep and slightly mysterious visual sense with high-contrast light and shadow effects. In the color environment dominated by red, black, and gold, the silver-white wig appears exceptionally translucent under the light.
To pursue the ideal composition and emotional delivery, we experimented with multiple sitting and standing postures during the shooting process. Leaning on the edge of the sofa, lazily stretching the legs, or relaxing on the armrest of the sofa were all to visually embody an elegant, casual, and cold temperament. Especially the scene of sitting in the sofa and lifting both legs not only beautifully displays the layers of the skirt hem, but also allows the details of the black tights and the ankle bows to be shown to the maximum extent. Although the set of this photoshoot was very full, the composition intentionally left room for visual breathing space. The overall visual presentation is highly unified, and I hope to accurately convey this gorgeous, gothic fairy-tale-colored night banquet atmosphere through this anime cosplay project featuring gothic style photography.
