This time, I bring you the Citlali cosplay from Genshin Impact, with the theme Whispers of Stars and Smoke. The details of the costume and props are extremely exquisite, featuring a pink-purple gradient wig and the iconic purple geometric face makeup on both cheeks. To match the character, the makeup was deliberately softened. The goggle-shaped headpiece on top of the head and the blue bow and bell pendant on the chest are all trying their best to restore the original artwork setting. Special thanks to the handmade artisan @抽象小波; the huge plush pillow and small costume accessories used this time are made extremely delicately. The blue folded lines, diamond patterns, and strap textures on the pillow achieved almost 100% restoration, making me feel like the character stepped right into reality when putting on this outfit.
Shooting this set of photos was divided into two parts. The first part is the starry curtain scene built inside the studio. To create the feeling of nighttime whispers, a dark blue starry backdrop was used in the background, paired with cascading light purple semi-sheer gauze drapes, and a circular light purple carpet was laid on the ground. Next to it, a retro kerosene lamp, a wooden treasure chest-shaped table, scattered books, and blue scrolls were arranged. In this scene, I tried a side-lying pose, supporting my head with one hand, lightly resting the other hand on my cheek, with my legs naturally crossed. This action actually tests waist strength quite a bit, as it also has to balance displaying the white over-the-knee socks and platform shoes on the feet. The warm yellow light shining on the body instantly maxes out the atmosphere.
The other sets of photos were completed in a pure white background studio, with the focus more concentrated on costume details and action presentation. When shooting sitting down, holding that huge plush pillow, raising both hands or holding a prop book with a pink cover, these actions allow the layering of the skirt hem and the strap design of the waist to be better exposed. When standing up for a full-body photo, with legs slightly bent, one hand holding the pillow, and the other hand hanging naturally, matching the pink and golden patterns on the shoe surface, the overall color matching is very coordinated.
During the shooting process, how to balance cuteness and elegance was the key. Citlali's setting itself carries a sense of mystery while retaining the maiden's playfulness. Therefore, in expression control, I didn't use exaggerated expressions, but rather carried a bit of laziness and composure. The costume's multi-layered irregular hem, the diamond-shaped cutouts on the over-the-knee socks, and the purple tassels—captured by the studio lights, these elements have a high color restoration, and the main color scheme of white, light purple, and blue looks very clean. Since it's an anime cosplay, besides the clothes themselves, the rationality of actions and camera presence are also key to enhancing the texture of the photos. Throughout the process, I communicated with the photographer about angles and adjusted the position of the pillow to avoid blocking the highlights on the costume, while also paying attention to keeping the body curves and composition balanced in the frame. This set of photos took a lot of effort from preliminary communication to post-production, and I am very satisfied with the final result.
