Styling this Yuki Cross cosplay uniform requires precise attention to detail. The ratio of black, white, and red is meticulously balanced; the white trim along the jacket defines the crisp silhouette of the uniform, while the deep red oversized bow forms a striking visual focal point. The white collar peeking out just right, paired with silver cross accessories at the cuffs, brings out an exquisite texture instantly.
For makeup, to match the dark and mysterious tone of Vampire Knight, I chose red contact lenses paired with a fair foundation. The focus was on blending reddish eyeshadow around the eyes to recreate Yuki Cross's focused, slightly aloof temperament. The wig is a short dark-brown cut with bangs covering most of the forehead to faithfully reflect the anime design. During the shoot, capturing facial expressions was crucial—looking straight into the lens truly conveys the character's innate presence.
This session was an indoor mirror selfie shoot. The first photo features a half-body composition, showcasing the uniform's design through upper-body details: the white piping contrasting with black fabric, and the exquisite embroidery on the armband. The second photo uses a full-body composition, presenting the classic look of a pleated skirt paired with over-the-knee Black stockings and black platform boots. When taking mirror selfies, slightly turning and leaning towards the camera utilizes mirror perspective to visually elongate leg proportions, making the overall silhouette look sleeker and sharper.
To me, the character of Yuki Cross holds a pivotal place in my childhood memories as my gateway anime. The Cross Academy uniform carries so many nostalgic stories. Putting on this outfit and adjusting my makeup and wig in front of the mirror, youthful memories of watching anime came flooding back. That is why I repeatedly adjusted garment details like the armband placement and bowtie knot, as a character's soul often resides in such nuances. The snug fit of the Black stockings combined with the height boost of the boots served as an essential method for styling leg lines.
During shooting and post-processing, I strived to retain an authentic raw texture without excessive skin smoothing, as Yuki (and later Yuki Kuran) embodies a very natural, resilient state. This photo set mainly documents the fitting look; rather than an elaborate backdrop, a solid monochrome setting highlights the character's temperament even better. Cosplaying characters I love is always a process of reuniting with my own memories. This look is stunning and reminded me of the charm of anime-style outfits—standing before the mirror in it leaves me completely satisfied.
