[Tayama cosplay] Atmospheric Vibe of Leather jacket and Black stockings in the Underpass

Shooting this set of event/location photos for Miss Tayama had actually been in preparation for a while. From selecting the Underpass setting to coordinating the outfit, the goal was to capture that effortless yet cool street vibe in Portrait photography. For the wig, I specifically chose a highly saturated dark crimson hue with blunt bangs in front and a high ponytail tied to the side, allowing the ponytail to sway naturally in the breezy Underpass and add dynamic vitality. Makeup was also calibrated: red eyeshadow echoed the lipstick, and base foundation was kept light and translucent to make skin tones look fairer. A slender black choker around my neck, paired with dangling long earrings, caught reflections under cold lights, elevating the overall refined detail.

We tested multiple combinations for the outfit. The form-fitting white camisole minidress flatters the figure immensely, but wearing it alone was too plain, so I added a thin black leather belt—not only accentuating the waistline, but also demarcating upper and lower body proportions more clearly. The Leather jacket is the soul of the entire ensemble; wearing a black biker Leather jacket normally would look too rigid. Therefore, I mostly draped it halfway off or let it hang over a single shoulder. This revealed collarbones and shoulder lines while making the contrast between the white dress and black Leather jacket much sharper. For the lower half, I wore sheer Black stockings paired with white pointed-toe stiletto ankle boots. These boots had exceptionally high heels; standing there during the shoot required constant core balance, and walking demanded deliberate stabilization, but for the sake of flattering leg contours, that was nothing. The Black stockings sculpted the legs beautifully under the studio lights, and combined with high heels, maximized the visual effect of elongated legs.

The cigarette held in my hand was actually a crucial atmospheric prop. To be clear, it remained unlit throughout the shoot and was used purely as a photography prop. Lighting it could have blurred the lens with smoke and was unsafe in an indoor Underpass corridor. How to hold it in my fingers, how to rest it near my lips, and how to coordinate my gaze were tested across numerous angles—such as looking down at the cigarette, glancing casually up at the camera, or leaning one hand against a graffiti-covered pillar with the cigarette held naturally between my fingertips.

The shooting location was set in an Underpass decorated with graffiti, flanked by black recycling bins with illuminated neon signs in the background. The photographer was adept at utilizing available ambient light: amidst the expansive cool-toned atmosphere, my red hair and white dress became the visual focal points. To highlight the texture of the Leather jacket, side-backlighting was employed to wrap the jacket's contours in subtle specular highlights. The entire process was a continuous cycle of calibrating postures—leaning against pillars, turning sideways, resting a hand on the hip—striving to find angles that best flattered my silhouette and long legs clad in Black stockings. Although it was rather chilly outdoors, seeing the effect of the Black stockings and elongated legs in the final edits, along with that cold, languid aesthetic, made this shoot completely worthwhile.
