This time, to shoot the indoor daily vibe of Marin Kitagawa, I started preparing this styling a long time in advance. In the original design, she is a girl who deeply loves 2D and dressing up, so for the scene setup, I deliberately chose an all-pink gaming room. The pink acrylic bottle rack on the desk, the vintage telephone, and the two glowing monitors were all meant to create that authentic stay-at-home otaku atmosphere.
Let's start with the wig and makeup. To restore Marin's light pinkish-gold long hair, I chose a wig with warm tones and added a slight pink gradient treatment at the hair ends. The bangs on the forehead were trimmed quite fragmented, so that the hairstyle can present a natural fluffy feel when wearing cat-ear headphones. For the eye makeup, I used a reddish eyeshadow as a base, paired with slender eyelashes and a vibrant red lip. To look good on camera, the contouring was done very dimensionally, but the overall sweetness of the character was retained.
For the clothing part, I chose a loose white fluffy sweater. The texture of the sweater is extremely soft, but shooting in it actually tests posing quite a bit because sweaters easily make people look bulky. Therefore, I deliberately adopted a semi-dropped wearing method, revealing the thin black spaghetti straps underneath. This can showcase the lazy vibe of the sweater while not losing female curves. The lower body is paired with black shorts and a pair of white ribbed mid-calf socks. The elasticity of these white stockings is very good. To showcase better leg lines in front of the lens, I spent a lot of time adjusting the tightness of the sock cuffs so that they fit just right against the calves, presenting a natural muscle contour.
During the shooting process, the photographer captured many states of me curled up in the pink gaming chair. The low-angle close-up like in picture 1 was to highlight the leg lines and the texture of the white socks, with the chair base supporting the calves, matching the light and shadow of the wooden floor, full of a real-life atmosphere. Pictures 2 and 3 are medium and full shots, where I sat on the chair hugging my legs, with my hands naturally resting on the sock cuffs. This posture can showcase both the laziness of the sweater and better display the visual extension of the legs. Wearing pink cat-ear headphones and listening to music, pretending to play games in front of the computer, the gaze and expression in this state are the most relaxed.
I think the most interesting part of cosplaying this character is that she is not just a pretty appearance; she has a strong sense of initiative and passion for her hobbies. I deliberately kept the actions from being too stiff, infusing a bit of casualness—such as fingers hooking the edge of the socks, or the gaze slightly spacing out towards the lens—both trying to convey a playful feeling of 'although I'm in the gaming room, my mind might be elsewhere.'
The entire shoot lasted about three hours. The pink lighting hitting the white sweater had a great reflection effect, but holding the same hugging-legs posture for a long time was quite tiring. This set of photos can be considered my complete attempt at Marin's indoor styling. I tried my best to restore the details of the scene and the texture of the clothing, and I hope everyone can feel this relaxed and somewhat sweet atmosphere.
