This Kokomi x My Melody look is one of my favorite self-styled outfits recently. The moment I put it on, it felt completely natural, and it has definitely been living in my comfort zone for quite a while now. For the outfit, I chose a pale pink off-the-shoulder long-sleeved top. The ruffled neckline and bow detail perfectly fit the anime girl vibe, paired with a white multi-layered ruffled miniskirt and matching white over-the-knee thigh-high socks, making the overall visual both soft and layered. The pink hair was styled into rounded twin-tails just like My Melody's, with light purple highlights so it doesn't look too monotonous visually. For the headwear, I chose fluffy pink cat ears, adorned with a few shiny small hair clips to make the entire hairstyle look more voluminous and dimensional. When it came to choosing props, the large My Melody plush was absolutely the perfect finishing touch; whether held in one hand or used as a soft, cute background embellishment, it looks great in photos. Additionally, I paired it with a matching small fur ball pendant, which adds a sense of detail whether held in hand or hung at the waist. For the pose design, I divided the shoot into three types. For the standing poses, pay attention to the center of gravity at the pelvis. Standing on one foot or slightly turning sideways can elongate the leg lines. Hand movements should be stretched out as much as possible, such as holding the hair accessories with both hands or raising one hand to wave, which becomes very eye-catching when paired with a tilted head. The focus of the kneeling poses is the body lines. Sitting sideways with knees together or kneeling on both knees, leaning the upper body forward or straightening the spine, and holding the plush doll can make the entire look appear very heartwarming; the expression can be a bit softer. As for the sitting poses, they mainly increase the sense of interaction. Sitting on a round platform with legs hanging down naturally, or playfully crossed together, utilizes the curves of the toes and ankles to extend the visual length, while the hands can rest on the cheek or play with the pendant. For the set design, a structure of white Roman columns and an archway was used, adorned on both sides with pink and blue flowers that echo the colors of the clothes. The lighting was adjusted to a soft pinkish-white tone, making the skin texture look translucent and natural. Overall, this look is highly practical whether for a solo shoot or as a general pose reference for anime girl characters. For beginner cosplayers, the Kokomi x My Melody makeup and styling are relatively easy to get started with, without a high threshold for facial contours. Personally, I feel that the most important things in cosplay are confidence and a sense of naturalness. Once your poses flow freely, the overall tension and appeal will naturally come through.
