This time, I'm sharing mirror selfies of Tachibana Nozomi from Blue Archive. Getting straight to the point: the biggest quirk of this outfit is that the uniform collar is extremely high, which instantly makes your neck vanish in mirror selfies—I couldn't resist posting an update to playfully rant about this design.
The design logic of the entire outfit is very clean: a deep blue cropped uniform jacket paired with matching shorts, classic and sharp in coloration. The jacket features a midriff-baring cropped cut, which, combined with a black leather belt and a square metal buckle, neatly outlines the waistline for a very sleek look. Light blue piping on both cuffs and collar, along with gold circular button accents, add plenty of detail and texture to this uniform, and the armband on the left arm stays very faithful to the original work.
The lower half is paired with deep blue shorts and opaque white tights for this White stockings cosplay. White stockings actually set high standards for leg lines; before wearing them, proper daily priming and hair removal are essential to ensure the stockings look smooth and clean on camera. The deep blue ankle boots match the color of the jacket and shorts, with a subtle leather sheen providing a grounded base for the look while visually extending the leg lines.
The head styling can be called the soul of the character. The light green wig is styled with thick bangs and fluffy twintails. To prevent the crown from collapsing, a wig cap was used underneath to support volume. Paired with elf ear props secured via ear hooks or adhesive, along with the small gold earring dangling by the ear, the character's iconic traits instantly come to life. The peaked cap is also a focal point of this look—deep blue with white stripes and a large gold emblem in front, creating great atmosphere whether held separately or during a salute.
For makeup, I chose to match the character's design, using warm earth tones for eyeshadow to complement the green hair, with deepened blending at the outer eye corners. Paired with hazel-brown colored contacts, the gaze looks soft yet multi-layered. A natural nude shade was used for the lips to keep the overall makeup clean and fresh.
Since the mirror selfie was taken in my bedroom, the lighting was mainly indoor incandescent light. This light source is actually more true-to-life than dual-color-temperature studio lights, revealing natural skin texture and original costume colors. Although the collar makes the neck disappear instantly, the crisp stiffness of this Uniform cosplay paired with a saluting gesture brings out a unique gap-moe charm.
During mirror selfies, adjusting the phone angle carefully is crucial—finding an angle that showcases costume details while capturing leg and waist lines. Lifting the right hand slightly in a salute, as shown in the picture, combined with white gloves, instantly gives off a patrol or duty vibe. The full-body reflection in the mirror makes it very convenient to check the harmony of proportions between top and bottom.
Tachibana Nozomi's character carries a serious, even slightly obstinate personality, and this form-fitting uniform blends military-style uniform with anime aesthetics. I love this approach of taking photos in a humble bedroom setting, letting the costume and styling completely take over the visual focus.
Of course, pairing elf ears with twintails has its challenges: ensuring the wig covers the base of the elf ears and earrings while preventing the twintails from being flattened by the hat requires numerous bobby pins. The white gloves are very helpful for gestures, preventing hand poses from looking dull and adding a bright pop to the frame.
Having cosplayed many uniform-type characters before, although this set compromises a bit on collar comfort, the overall presentation still reflects the designer's precise grasp of character temperament. This mirror selfie session captured multi-faceted details through the mirror and phone, achieving a level of fidelity I'm personally very satisfied with. Although shooting in a bedroom lacks elaborate sets, using a simple setting to accentuate the character's styling is also a way to hone one's character portrayal skills.
After cosplaying so many characters, the process of dressing up is always the most anticipated. Putting on the deep blue uniform, fastening gold buttons, securing the black belt, slipping into white gloves, and finally firmly pressing the peaked cap onto the head—the whole process is full of ritual. Even though the collar covers the neck in the mirror, it actually made me want to take more photos to remember this unique experience brought by the character.
From trimming the wig to wearing the elf ears, every tiny detail dictates the final result. Even if the collar is indeed somewhat high, this cohesive uniform look remains exceptionally eye-catching.
