[Orphie Cosplay] Red-Haired Tactical Whirlwind in Zenless Zone Zero

I've been keeping a close eye on this Orphie cosplay look from garment pattern-making to prop details for a long time, and today I can finally share this set of photos! This character design in Zenless Zone Zero is truly distinct—the black-and-yellow tactical jacket paired with red-and-blue contrasting hard shoulder armor, as well as those uniquely styled mechanical headphones; every element brings the street sci-fi feel unique to New Eridu. When I got the physical costume, the leather's texture and weight were much heavier than I imagined. Especially under side-backlighting in a dark-toned ambient setting, the shine on the leather's surface looks remarkably high-end.

On the shooting day, we found a darkroom set filled with retro CRT monitors and electronic equipment. This collision of old-school tech and tactical techwear created a striking visual contrast in our Cyberpunk style setup. To restore that relaxed yet vigilant feeling after battle, the photographer used orange-red underlighting to set the atmosphere. The light hitting my hair maxed out the red hair's color saturation, while rim lighting made the silhouette look even more three-dimensional for this Cosplay photography shoot.

Regarding action design, in the photos you see, the high-leg cross-seated pose and holding the blade glaring at the camera actually test core strength heavily. To highlight my favorite design element of this Zenless Zone Zero Cosplay look—the white thigh garters and black stockings—I intentionally adjusted the angles of my legs and the lighting during shooting. This combination of garters and black stockings delivers strong visual impact, perfectly matching the tech vibe and crisp cool energy of tactical mecha. When shooting blade-holding poses, the reflective texture of the blade edge had to echo my red wig as well.

Honestly speaking, putting on this gear was really quite troublesome. Wearing the headphone helmet compressed my bangs, requiring frequent tidying to maintain that fluffy curve; the white straps on the thighs slid easily, so staff kept assisting me with readjustments between shots. Although tedious, everyone can see the final shot results for themselves. Additionally, the mechanical arm prop equipped on my body carried considerable weight, but its exposed tubing details in the dark, paired with my overall outfit, fully supported the street-character combat-ready aura in Zenless Zone Zero.

To align with the character's personality, my makeup specifically darkened the eyeliner to make the eyes look sharper and more aggressive, yet when relaxed, an inexplicably cute charm emerges. Just as described in my post—both cool and moe—which is probably one reason why everyone loves this character. Reviewing the playback after shooting this set, I felt that not only did I gain awesome photos, but I also gained more experience in handling tactical techwear characters.

I'm very satisfied with the completion level of the entire piece, especially that almost ruthless atmosphere rendered by high-contrast light and shadow in dark tones.
