Based on a modern Chinese style, this photoshoot integrated traditional Spring Festival elements into Sweety's cosplay image. Right from the early preparation stage of this set, I really wanted to place the distinct casual aura of this Zenless Zone Zero character into a scene rich with Lunar New Year vibe. For the outfit, I chose a modified black mini qipao with red trim, which not only preserves the traditional standing collar and overlapping cross-front design of traditional Chinese attire, but also adopts modern tailoring to make movements more flexible during shooting. Combined with the character's signature black gloves and goggles, it creates a unique visual contrast. Regarding scene set design, we used a massive circular folding screen as the backdrop, where painted grapes and floral patterns nicely filled out the negative space. Warm light sources from paper lanterns emanate within the moody dark-toned environment, echoing the red Spring Festival couplets and \"Fu\" blessing stickers in the foreground, perfectly fitting the \"Happy New Year\" theme. A few giant red artificial flowers placed on the right further enhanced the festive warmth of the entire frame. During the actual shoot, to find the best angle and posture, I tried various sitting poses on the wooden table, eventually settling on this naturally relaxed stance with legs crossed smoothly. Since it was a barefoot photoshoot, extra attention was paid to foot positioning details to blend seamlessly with the overall casual vibe. Under professional guidance from the photographer, lighting emphasized facial contours and body curves, giving the qipao fabric an elevated, premium texture.
I believe Cosplay photography is a comprehensive form of visual expression—far beyond simply slipping into costume and wearing a wig. It demands that character persona, scene atmosphere, and photographer technique achieve a seamless organic unity. In this photoset, I focused on traditional Spring Festival culture, hoping to present Chinese cultural elements in a youthful and trendy fashion through Sweety. During post-processing, I deliberately preserved the raw authenticity of the photos without heavy skin smoothing or altering body proportions, because authentic texture resonates deeper with viewers; against a cheerful New Year photoshoot backdrop, a natural state is the finest expression. The session lasted several hours; despite physical exhaustion, a sense of accomplishment naturally arose upon seeing the rendered light and shadow effects. Through this work, I hope everyone can feel the charm of blending tradition with contemporary pop culture. The entire creative process was deeply enjoyable, and I'm grateful to every behind-the-scenes staff member, as this was not just an Anime live-action photography session, but an exploration of aesthetics.
