[Reimu Hakurei Cosplay] Touhou Project: Convention photos of the Red and White Shrine Maiden

Shooting this Reimu Hakurei outfit at an anime convention was actually quite challenging, especially capturing dynamic Convention photos amidst heavy crowds and chaotic lighting. Huge thanks to photographer @Akong (一只摄影), who demonstrated exceptional control over convention photography. He managed to find relatively clean backgrounds in such a complex convention environment, utilizing overhead top lighting to create distinctive backlighting and vignetting effects that gave the entire image rich texture.

Let's talk about the costume and props: the jacquard brocade texture on the red skirt reflected beautifully under strong lights, and the oversized ruffled sleeve design made waving motions look stunning. The golden bell prop in hand and the colorful ribbons across the costume took up plenty of space while running or posing, nearly brushing past nearby passersby several times, yet this physical expansiveness was precisely the most captivating aspect of the look. During the shoot, I kept searching for the right groove. Since these were Convention photos without the luxury of waiting for wind like in a studio, movements had to be expansive, manually swinging the ribbons to create a sense of flow. The photographer's capture speed was lightning fast, and the post-color grading was fantastic—darkening the slightly cluttered convention background to make the subject pop.

Down below, paired with white socks and black leather shoes, large dynamic motions like leaping or one-legged standing poses showcased natural leg lines. I particularly love that one-legged raised shot: the low-angle upward perspective significantly elongated body proportions with powerful dynamism while neatly avoiding the cluttered crowds behind. On-site, I met many fellow fans holding up cameras to shoot, with onlookers cheering 'Girl praying!' nearby. Combined with this classic pose and expression, the convention atmosphere was maxed out.

The true value of Convention photos lies in their spontaneity and irreproducibility. Walking around drenched in sweat and finding gaps in the crowd to snap photos made seeing the final results completely worthwhile. This Anime cosplay photoshoot experience was wonderful—from the red-and-white outfit setting and choreography to on-site lighting coordination, the overall execution was high. Thanks once again to the photographers who patiently waited and cooperated; everyone worked hard to bring this set to life.
