This shoot was dedicated to Touhou Project's Sakuya Izayoi. To faithfully channel the Chief Maid's dignified composure before the lens, pre-production required substantial time and care. From garment curation to wig styling, every step aimed to honor the finest canon details.

The wardrobe features a vintage dress adorned with floral patterns over a blue base, lavishly overlaid with tiers of crisp white lace. The collar showcases a black high-neck lace design, centered with a deep-brown satin bow and a gilded brooch inlaid with pearls, echoed symmetrically at the waistline. The most labor-intensive component was undoubtedly the sleeves: ironing those gathered puff sleeves and cascading lace ruffles demanded immense patience, yet wearing them firmly establishes that opulent, disciplined silhouette. The skirt pleats and ruffled tiers gather with substantial volume, requiring careful center-of-gravity awareness when moving to avoid stepping on the hemline.

For hair and makeup, the silver-white wig was styled with blunt bangs and long twin side braids tied off with slender blue ribbons. The wig received thorough volume teasing and a light mist of setting spray prior to wearing, ensuring it wouldn't collapse during active posing. For eye makeup, bright blue contact lenses were paired with soft, expansive blush and subtle faux freckles, aiming to blend Sakuya's cool detachment with her dependable, earnest demeanor. A sheer liquid foundation kept the base pristine, sealed thoroughly with setting powder to prevent specular shine under intense studio lamps.

The shoot was staged in a vintage European-style room featuring blue stained-glass windows, dark brown leather armchairs, ornate golden candelabras, and heavy damask drapes—elements that resonated harmoniously with the Scarlet Devil Mansion setting. To accentuate her signature traits, we composed dedicated mirror shots on set. Drawing on Sakuya's ability to manipulate time, utilizing mirrors created an interwoven tension between the physical body and its reflection, visually evoking the illusion of frozen time and space.

Regarding illumination, we laid down a warm amber ambient base to form a vivid warm-and-cool dialogue against my cool-toned blue-and-white Maid outfit, lending three-dimensional pop to the subject. The key and rim lights underwent repeated calibration, balancing uniform facial illumination while rendering rich tactile texture across the lace trims and pearl brooch. Throughout the session, maintaining effortless elegance was paramount: gaze alignment needed crisp precision without drifting, while arm placement remained relaxed yet poised, embodying the effortless command of the Chief Maid.

Though physically demanding—especially sustaining continuous takes over several hours in this structured, heavy attire—witnessing the interplay of light, shadow, and atmosphere in the raw camera previews made every meticulous preparation profoundly worthwhile.
