To celebrate the remake return of Embodiment of Scarlet Devil, we spent a long time preparing this group photo set of the Scarlet Devil Mansion. As the cosplayer of Sakuya Izayoi, I participated in the whole process from costume pattern-making to prop selection. The scene layout of the Scarlet Devil Mansion mainly revolved around a classical and dark atmosphere. Solid wood bookshelves, retro globes, birdcages, and a large stack of old books were built piece by piece in the venue by us. To restore that mysterious library, we spent an entire afternoon just adjusting the lighting. In terms of costume details, Sakuya's maid outfit used a crisp fabric, matched with a large amount of lace borders and ruffles, and the overall cut fit very well. To highlight the character's temperament, I added some exquisite metal accessories to the inner wear, while choosing thick-textured black stockings to match the long boots, which could better accentuate the leg lines and overall clean feel during shooting. A lot of thought was also put into the costumes of other members, such as Remilia's pink dress and Flandre's red miniskirt, with the layers of the skirt hem and the details of the bows done very solidly. Patchouli's purple long hair was matched with an exquisite lace hat and glasses, and the styling of Koakuma and Hong Meiling also had their own unique features; when everyone stood together, the color coordination was extremely harmonious. For the makeup, we unified a relatively fair base makeup, paired with dark red lip makeup to stay close to the character's settings. During the shooting process, my favorites were those close-up shots with prop interactions, such as the moment a red apple was held up on the fingertips; this narrative-like imagery is extremely attractive. The on-site light and shadow used a contrast between a large number of warm yellow desk lamps, candles, and cool-toned ambient light; this alternating warm and cool lighting easily brings people into that fantastical world of the Scarlet Devil Mansion. We tried various compositional combinations by the ladder of the bookshelf, in front of the long table, and on the sofa, trying to make the picture look like a classical oil painting. Although the entire shooting process was somewhat exhausting, the team's cooperation level was extremely high. Being able to gather these characters with distinct personalities from Embodiment of Scarlet Devil together and bring them into reality through costumes, props, and light and shadow is in itself a very fulfilling thing. The return of the remake version has made veteran players like us extremely excited, and we also hope that through this set of photos, we can convey that elegant yet slightly mysterious temperament of the Scarlet Devil Mansion to everyone.
