Today's Genshin Impact convention photos were mainly taken to test my newly purchased blue and white gradient wig and blue colored contact lenses. Since no specific character name was indicated, I created the makeup and styling based on the overall blue and white style of the costume. After receiving the wig, I trimmed it substantially: the original length and bangs were far too heavy, so I thinned out the hair ends myself and cut the sideburns into curves that contour the face shape, which looks much cleaner visually. The blue and white gradient color actually demands a very clean makeup look; if the base makeup isn't clean enough, the wig color will make one look very dull. Therefore, I applied a relatively substantial base today and set it with plenty of loose powder to prevent harsh reflections caused by direct overhead convention lighting.
The eye makeup focused on enlarging the eyes. Since the contact lenses are deep blue, I chose a low-saturation gray-blue palette for eyeshadow, blending it across the eye socket and the outer third of the lower eyelid. The eyeliner was slightly elongated without being flicked up too aggressively. I applied individual lash clusters, which look far more natural than a full strip. For brows, a light-colored brow mascara was used to blend with the wig color as seamlessly as possible without looking jarring. A touch of pink blush was swept across the tip of the nose and cheeks to add a hint of healthy complexion.
The costume has plenty of details, including gold trim and blue gem accents, so I had to be extra cautious when putting it on to avoid snagging the wig. The hat is a major highlight, though it pinches the head a bit when worn for long periods; I adjusted its angle to tilt slightly backward so it wouldn't obscure too much of my forehead during half-body shots.
Regarding the issue of OOC, I sincerely apologize to everyone. Because everyone's facial features and aura differ, combined with the selfie perspective used this time, it might not fully convey the character's essence. In terms of makeup and styling, I have tried my best to stay close to the original design; please be forgiving if anything falls short. The convention lighting was very cluttered, and it took me a long time to find an angle where the top lighting was relatively even. Retouching was minimal—mainly restoring the color of the contacts and tweaking facial light and shadow while preserving some skin texture, avoiding an overly masked look.
As for wig maintenance, this kind of gradient wig easily looks dirty. If you plan to cosplay a character with a similar color scheme, spraying wig conditioner before wearing is recommended, combing from the ends upward rather than tugging forcefully from the roots, which causes significant hair shedding. In addition, always choose contact lenses with great moisture retention; spending an entire day at a comic convention makes eyes dry out very easily, so carrying eye drops is wise.
Genshin Impact costumes typically feature multiple layers. This time, I wore a thin base layer underneath to prevent sweat from staining the costume and to facilitate walking around. When taking photos, try to find large areas of solid-colored backgrounds or spots with clear, transparent lighting, making background removal and color grading in post-processing much easier. This blue and white color scheme was actually at a disadvantage in the dim lighting of the convention, easily muddying into a blur, so I actively added facial fill light to make my facial features more dimensional. Hopefully next time I can do an outdoor shoot to present the overall effect even better.
