[Tushan Susu cosplay] Fox Spirit Matchmaker: Sweet Pink-and-Blue Sprite at the Anime Convention

When shooting this Tushan Susu cosplay, it coincided with peak convention traffic. The venue's ambient lighting was quite intricate, and overhead harsh light filtering through the massive glass ceiling truly tested the photographers' skills. To secure clean backgrounds and flattering, soft skin tones, photographers Youye and Baibaijiang spent considerable time scouting locations beforehand.

The styling for this shoot centered on capturing Tushan Susu's lively, spirited charm. The wig and plush beast ears were crafted by wig stylist Jinse; the hair texture flows naturally, and the peach-pink hue was spot-on. Topped with her signature ahoge, putting it on instantly summoned the character's soul. For eye makeup, I chose light-blue contact lenses to match her canonical eye color, complemented by prominent pink-purple eyeshadow and blush, giving my face a fuller, delightfully sweet look. The outfit features a pink-and-blue cross-collared Japanese-style design. The fabric possesses substantial weight and a graceful drape; particularly with the oversized sleeves, their fluid contours remained elegant whether flicked in motion or crouching, avoiding any clumsy bulk. The red sash at the waist and subtle jacquard patterning on the inner layers captured every detail authentically.

The shooting process was great fun. To showcase Susu's gluttonous, innocent nature, I brought a round rainbow lollipop as a prop. In the first crouching shot, framing leg lines cleanly while positioning the lollipop prominently in the composition—paired with poking my cheek with a finger—amplified that sweet, youthful loli visual impact. Photo four captured a full-body stance where I held the lollipop in one hand and swung the billowy sleeve, freezing the kinetic beauty of the garment in motion.

Keeping such wide sleeves pristine on the crowded convention floor was quite a task; with so many people, hems and cuffs could easily get stepped on, so I constantly minded how I held my sleeves. Facial expression management was equally vital to sustain that sweet aura—maintaining a warm smile while radiating an innocent, sparkling expression. Midway through, fellow fans asked for photos together, and flowing naturally into spontaneous poses offered the photographers wonderful chances to snap candid, organic moments. Reflectors were used on set, eliminating harsh facial shadows and illuminating the pink gown cleanly, which greatly facilitated post-production retouching.

Beyond solo portraits, I shot Photo 2 alongside friends cosplaying Tushan Honghong cosplay and Tushan Rongrong cosplay. The three-person chemistry was phenomenal. Honghong's red-and-white palette commanded a powerful aura, while Rongrong's blend of yellow-green and pale blue was exquisitely gentle. Our contrasting costume palettes formed a vivid, breathtaking scene across the hall. Interacting with them made the warm, unique bonds of the Tushan clan palpable, enriching my emotional connection to the character during this shoot.

The venue was rather warm, making the heavy wig and multi-layered costume quite challenging—and while crouching poses make great photos, holding them for prolonged stretches left my legs aching. Yet seeing the final Convention photos, every ounce of effort proved worthwhile. Overall, this pink-and-blue ensemble looked exceptionally rich on camera, accented wonderfully by the lollipop and beast ears. While eating a real candy at a convention is impractical, the prop was wonderfully light and didn't tire my hand. The bangs customized by stylist Jinse framed my face shape beautifully, staying faithful to the character design from Fox Spirit Matchmaker. Honghong and Rongrong's intricate styling details shone through in our group takes as well; the seamless chemistry between the three of us led to a very high yield of stunning photos. This anime convention experience was peak—exhausting physically, but deeply fulfilling. Selecting photos at the end revealed delightful candid surprises, like strands of hair catching the breeze or sunlight filtering across my sleeves. With thorough prep, we achieved clean, adorable, and story-rich frames amidst a crowded convention hall, faithfully capturing her essence and bringing this convention challenge to a triumphant close.
