The schedule for Day 1 of the 39th Guangzhou Firefly ACG Expo was fully packed, with the primary goal being this La Pluma-themed cosplay shoot. During the prep stage, I decided to use King Tomato cup noodles as the main interactive prop. The bright orange packaging of the instant noodles creates a striking color contrast against the character's gray-and-black palette; set against the booth's vibrant yellow backdrop, this color-blocking actually makes the subject pop even more. Lighting on site mixed fill lights with LED strip lighting from the booth, resulting in a warm, diffuse illumination. Under front lighting, both makeup details and wig texture were preserved beautifully.

The focus of this look centered on wig styling and eye makeup details. The short black wig features a raised tuft/cowlick at the crown—a signature trait of the character. Silver geometric hair accessories and feather-textured hanging ornaments on both sides were specially secured to prevent shifting while walking, maintaining visual consistency. For the makeup, to match her cool, focused temperament, I added reddish smudging around the eyes. Paired with light-colored contact lenses, this ensured a sharp, focused gaze even under intense convention lights and complex color environments.

For the outfit, I chose a gray-and-black sleeveless turtleneck inner top layered with tactical black straps and metal buckles, fitting her equipped state during daily missions. To move freely in front of the booth, a silver reflective jacket was draped over the shoulders; plush trim at the cuffs added visual softness, contrasting nicely against the rigid tactical straps. A small black tactical pouch at the waist added a sense of weight, keeping the outfit from looking sparse. Overall, breathability was surprisingly manageable inside the warm venue, offering zero restriction for arm movements during shooting.

As for shooting methods, this session relied mostly on handheld gear combined with an on-site selfie stick, supported by a compact panel light for controlled lighting. Among the final shots, a candid capture of waving hello turned out particularly well composed, showing a great dynamic interplay between the cup noodles and fingerless gloves. Medium shots featuring the front of the cup noodles pulled the perspective closer to highlight fabric textures and packaging details. Meanwhile, profile shots and candid glances away from the camera enriched the narrative structure, giving the set a natural behavioral logic rather than repetitive camera gaze.

Foot traffic on Day 1 was quite heavy, with attendees constantly passing by the booth, testing the photographer's timing for candid captures. Since the character design is clean and sharp, no complex staging was needed; leveraging the booth's existing high-saturation background yielded great shots directly. This behind-the-scenes set preserved the raw ambient lighting and expressions without heavy color grading, aiming to capture the most authentic texture of the event. The overall session was relaxed—focusing on prop interaction and facial expression naturally merged character traits with the vibrant convention energy. Many fellow fans passing by showed curiosity toward the cup noodle prop, which added a fun interactive dynamic to the Cosplay photography experience.
