This Qipao style cosplay photoshoot of New Jersey from Azur Lane is finally here to meet everyone. This modified blue Qipao heavily tests the details; the sheer black lace at the chest and the high slit design of the skirt hem need to showcase both the character's gorgeousness and the heroic posture of a combat shipgirl. The silver-gray hair of the wig was given a lightweight treatment, and the rabbit ear styling at the top paired with golden hairpins counts as a clever touch for this look. Makeup and hair stylist @Qianai De Meili is highly professional. To align with the Eagle Union faction's setting, the base makeup is clean and translucent, and the eye makeup features a soft reddish-orange blending that isn't too heavy yet creates a beautiful contrast with the long silver-white hair. The hair and hair accessories were also fixed very securely, making it easy for me to execute various large movements in the studio.

Photographers @📷Wo Jiu Jiao Shiyi and @Qiyue cooperated in perfect sync. The lighting was highly sophisticated, allowing the deep blue dress to exhibit a premium texture in the studio environment, especially capturing those precise snapshot moments when the ribbons flew up. After post-processing by master @DEVINJ, the overall frame became clean and bright, and the details of the blue gradient water sleeves and the golden embroidery on the outfit were beautifully enhanced. During the shoot, to replicate New Jersey's confidence as the "biggest and strongest Black Dragon" along with her playful "Just kidding~" vibe, we experimented with many different movements. For instance, holding a folding fan in one hand, playfully teasing the skirt hem, or even that mischievous snapshot moment of lifting one leg while holding a phone for a selfie. This switching between a powerful aura and a young girl's cunning is precisely what attracts me most about this character. Standing in front of a pure white background and concentrating all the visual focus on the color contrast of the costume and the character's charm felt absolutely amazing.

Actually, when shooting this set of photos, the hardest part was managing those ribbons. Because controlling the flow of the ribbons in a pure white studio while keeping the facial expressions natural truly tests your body control. The shoes were also specially selected black glossy high heels with golden ankle straps. These tiny accessories enhance the refinement of the overall styling, and when paired with the high-slit skirt hem, the leg lines look much more attractive on camera. Personally, I feel that anime cosplay is not just about changing into an outfit, but rather a reinterpretation and expression of the character. During a studio session, figuring out how to showcase the character's underlying personality through body language is a very interesting challenge. This time we abandoned grand landscapes and adopted more half-body or close-up compositions, shifting the focus to the character's eye contact and hand details. I hope this cosplay photoshoot can bring everyone a different feeling. Visually it's cool and gorgeous, but in reality, during the shooting process, everyone was constantly looking for angles and bursting into laughter in the studio. Alright, that's it for some of my random musings about this shoot.
